May each of you have the heart to conceive, the understanding to direct, and the hand to execute works that will leave the world a little better for your having been here. -- Ronald Reagan

Not Us, But You, Should Pay Taxes

In light of the latest John Kerry kerfuffle about his moving his yacht around to avoid taxes he's voted for, promotes and loves, here's some reminders.

Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., avoided paying $500,000 in taxes on his yacht.

Rep. Charlie Rangel, D-N.Y., failed to disclose hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets to the IRS. He writes national tax law, and he didn't know he had to pay taxes on half a million that just showed up in his bank account?

Tom Daschle, Obama's first health and human services nominee, failed to pay $128,000 in taxes. oooops! he "forgot" to pay his taxes. Nomination had to be withdrawn.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner failed to pay $34,000 in taxes. This is the guy that wrote off sending his daughter to summer camp.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and her husband had to pay $7,000 in back taxes.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis' husband had a tax lien on his business for 16 years.

Nancy Killefer, on deck to be the White House chief performance officer, had a $900 lien on her house for failing to pay unemployment taxes for household help.

Lael Brainard, Obama's nominee for undersecretary of the treasury for international affairs, paid his property taxes late.

Remember Biden's quip about it being patriotic to pay taxes? "It's time to be patriotic...". I tithe more per year than $millionaire Biden gave to charity during the decade before he became vice president. He cares about regular folks don't ya see.

Then these guys write tax laws that give breaks for themselves and friends. Much provable truth in the observation that Republicans get rich and get into politics, and Democrats get into politics and get rich.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Now I'm getting testy.

Michael Moore claims to hate big oil and defense contractors. He claims to own no stocks because it's capitalist. In fact he owns (or owned) shares in Halliburton, Boeing, and Honeywell. He's a big union guy, but has been know to go up to Canada to do film work so he doesn't have to pay union thug wages.

Noam Chomsky, darling of communists, rages against private property and the defense industry. He has made $millions doing defense contract work. He owns property too.

The intolerant hate spewing diva Barbara Streisand is a big time green. She is (or was) part owner of a strip mining company. She owns all kinds of property, houses, big gas guzzling vehicles. It would take me a century with my current life style to leave a carbon footprint the size of the one she leaves in a year.

I love this one. Pro abortion activist Hillary Clinton, that supports teenage girls getting abortions without parental notification, would not let her teenage daughter get her ears pierced. By the way, Chelsea's wedding is going to cost $3-$5 million now that she's all growed up. "I feel your pain." How about, Chelsea, not taking a page out of your hypocritical parents book, and donate $5 million to poor people, or have a wedding fund so poor people can have cool weddings?

Nancy Pelosi supports, she says, unionized farm workers. Even got a Cesar Chavez award from the United Farm Workers in 2002. She and her husband own vineyards in California, and go out of their way to avoid paying union thug labor to pick their grapes.

Then today there was a story about Barney Frank, that tried to stiff a ferry (too good but I'll skip it) for a buck, demanding he get the $1 senior citizen discount. He didn't have the seniors' card so was denied and he turned into a whiny drama queen. He was going to Fire Island to his favorite gay bar. What the hell is a seventy year old doing trolling bars for sex, regardless of gender. geeeeez....that's disgusting.

“By gnawing through a dike, even a rat may drown a nation.” Edmund Burke

These rats are gnawing through the dike of fiscal responsibility and good governance with their teeth of greed, lies and hypocrisy; and drowning us in $trillions of debt and impoverishing us with high taxes they themselves try not to pay.
