May each of you have the heart to conceive, the understanding to direct, and the hand to execute works that will leave the world a little better for your having been here. -- Ronald Reagan

The Ten Cannots

The Ten Cannots

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence.
You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

Affairs of State

First of all, all these guys should keep it zipped up except for their spouse.

For a Republican politician, if the moral imperative isn't enough, how about keeping it zipped up for the Party? When a Statist has an affair, he will always get a pass from the MSM. It's only sex, and not anyone's business. If a Republican has an affair, he's a hypocrite, and it reflects on the Party. Republicans are supposed to be the party of 'Family Values'. We all know if you proclaim any kind of moral belief, and have a moment of weakness, you'll get pilloried. If you're a Statist, your only belief is the power of the State over the people. That's not hard to live up to. Just take other people's money (OPM) and reject the Constitution.

It's harder to be a Conservative. You have to think things out, not just be emotional and have good intentions. It's harder to be a Christian. You have to live by a moral code. Both these take effort and discipline. For God's sake, and your own, if you're one of these, walk the talk.

Fox News Stats-Most Watched-MSM Statist Blood Boils

From the Hollywood Reporter: (full story here)

"Fox News is on track to have its most-watched year ever, showing significant ratings growth despite having just come off a highflying election year.

With the second quarter coming to a close, Fox News averaged about the same number of viewers as the top three other cable news networks combined. And while rivals including CNN (-22%) and MSNBC (-18%) took hits following last quarter's inauguration-fueled boost, Fox News (-3%) remained nearly steady.

Compared with last year, the Fox News (averaging 2.1 million viewers, 509,000 adults 25-54 quarter-to-date) is up 35% over last year in primetime viewers and 48% in the demo. CNN (805,000 viewers, 210,000 in demo) fell 16% in viewers and 29% in the demo. MSNBC (787,000 viewers, 259,000 in demo) climbed 15% in viewers and about on par, -3%, in the demo. And CNN Headline News (553,000, 201,000) showed very strong growth, up 39% and 37%, respectively, and is on track for its best second quarter.

The new standings are strong enough to rank Fox News third behind USA and TNT among all ad-supported cable networks for the quarter among primetime total viewers. In its core demo, Fox News had eight of the top 10 cable news shows. It had similarly sunny increases for total day, while CNN and MSNBC were roughly on par with last year."

The Obama's Still Haven't Chosen a Church

The Obama's still haven't found a church to attend. I can think of two reasons. One, there isn't one anti-American and racist enough in D.C. like Jeremiah Wright's that they attended for twenty years, and the other that they aren't Christians.

This is my 'turn about is fair play' moment. George Bush was ridiculed, hated and despised for being a practicing Christian. I suppose then it's fair to point out that the Obama's reject God. They certainly have proven that they think rights are granted by the State, and not by God.

Great Salute to the Military

"I am in awe at what our military has accomplished in Iraq despite having most of the public and the vast majority of the media totally abandon them. In my view, what has been accomplished there, against all odds, is perhaps the greatest achievement in the history of our military and perhaps any volunteer force in modern times. I certainly love my country, but what it is that inspires men and women to volunteer for military service when the benefits are so sparse and the burdens so great is beyond my comprehension. We are all incredibly lucky to live in a nation that, despite all of its faults, still have enough courageous young people to serve it in ways that allow 'chicken hawks' (as the Left loves to describe conservative commentators who never served in the military) to worry about things that in comparison don't seem all that significant. Thank you for all you do for us. I wish we appreciated you in a way that was nearly as significant as what you deserve." --radio talk-show host John Ziegler

Quotable Quote

"The EPA is now considering designating CO2 a dangerous pollutant. The regulation of essential elements of life by our government scares me. It should scare us all. I am devastated by the notion that our own government founded on freedom would regulate and control the most fundamental aspects of life on earth. Regulation on life's important things is certainly tyranny.... If we regulate carbon dioxide or water, we will all be subject to the regulations because we cannot avoid producing both and releasing them into the environment. Me and my children, and yours too, will become polluters as we simply live and respire. I cannot comprehend it. ...[C]arbon dioxide is the basis of the energy cycle for life. Without sufficient carbon dioxide plants stop photosynthesis. Without plants, the whole chain breaks down, and we all die. ... Government stepping beyond its basic essentials always harms more than it helps. Government can never be efficient. It is not in its nature. The scorpion stings because it is a scorpion. Government oppresses because it is the governing power. Our founding fathers tried to control the beast, and it can probably not be done better, so do not thwart the controls. The controls are to be on the government, not we the people. Reduce the EPA, not carbon dioxide. In the end, that will save our children." --columnist Lonnie Schubert

Obama-Marxist African Colonial

This is an eye opening article by L.E. Ikenga, a first generation born West African-American. What Obama is really about, his politics and psychology is exposed here.

Some highlights, just to wet your appetite. This is as breathtaking as it is insightful.

"Barack Obama is nothing more than an old school African Colonial who is on his way to turning this country into one of the developing nations that you learn about on the National Geographic Channel. Many conservative (East, West, South, North) African-Americans like myself -- those of us who know our history -- have seen this movie before."

"The African colonial politician (ACP) feigns repulsion towards the hegemonic paradigms of Western civilization. But at the same time, he is completely enamored of the trappings of its aristocracy or elite culture. The ACP blames and caricatures whitey to no end for all that has gone wrong in the world. He convinces the masses that various forms of African socialism are the best way for redressing the problems that European colonialism motivated in Africa. However, as opposed to really being a hard-core African Leftist who actually believes in something, the ACP uses socialist themes as a way to disguise his true ambitions: a complete power grab whereby the "will of the people" becomes completely irrelevant."

"What Obama is doing to you:

Convince the people that "clinging" to any aspect of their cultural (tribal) identity or history is bad and regresses the process of "unity".

Confiscate the wealth and resources of the area that you govern by any means necessary in order to redistribute wealth.

Convince the masses that your upper-crust university education naturally puts you on an intellectual plane from which to understand everything even when you understand nothing.

Lie to the people and tell them that progress is being made even though things are clearly becoming worse.

Use every available media outlet to perpetuate the belief that you and your followers are the enlightened ones-and that those who refuse to support you are just barbaric, uncivilized, ignorant curmudgeons."

The Long Arm of Tax Cheat Geitner and Obama

Tax Cheat Geitner, Sec of Treasury, who runs the IRS as part of his job, after not paying his own taxes, is going after US expatriates for tax revenue. Swiss banks are closing American's accounts and not offering banking services to Americans living abroad. The Swiss banking industry is famous for having undisclosed accounts.

These banks have to register with the US's SEC; the paperwork and hassles, and governmental intrusion isn't worth it, so Swiss banks are saying the hell with it. James Nason, spokesman for the Basel-based Swiss Bankers Association. “The reporting obligations certainly aren’t going to go down as the IRS is considering extending the QI, exporting its tax laws and trying to turn Swiss banks into agents of the IRS.”

How is it possible that Tax Cheat Geitner and Obama can go to another country and order their banks to give up information and comply with American laws. Can they do that? Can the Chinese or Russians come in and order US banks to comply with their banking laws? WTF???

If Americans living overseas don't comply, they can be rounded up, arrested, jailed and fined.

Are They Going to Heaven?

This past week three famous people died, and the usual media attention was given. These people will live on in some's personal memory and perhaps for awhile in our cultural memory. Those of us professing to be Christians have this notion that after dieing, good people go to Heaven and bad ones go to Hell.

Is that the case? In Ecclesiastes, "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing." "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going."

In Psalms, "The dead do not praise the Lord, Nor any who go down into silence."

The Scriptures talk about death as sleep. It doesn't say anything about people passing from this life and going to Heaven. What it does say, is that Heaven will come to us. From Revelation, "Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, 'Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Continuing in Revelation, "And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it. and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there; They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever."

It doesn't look anyone is going to Heaven immediately, or soon. Plus, Jesus said no human has ever gone to Heaven. He said, "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven." This is a pretty amazing statement to those believing that when a loved on dies, he/she goes to heaven, is in a better place, and is smiling down on us. In Peter's sermon in Acts, he says, "Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is of the dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day...For David did not ascend into the heavens..."

When we die, we go to sleep. Then Christ returns. In Thessalonians, "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall aways be with the Lord."

It seems that by going into a deep deep sleep, one would not be aware of the passage of time. When Christ returns, no matter if centuries passed, to the awakened it would only seem a moment had passed. It would seem to them that they had ascended immediately.

In the end though, we will all be with God.

Interview With Rick Warren, Author of 'The Purpose Driven Life'

Some insights that Rick Warren has, with his wife now having cancer and him having 'wealth' from the book sales. This is an absolutely incredible short interview with Rick Warren, 'Purpose Driven Life ' author and pastor of Saddleback Church in California.

In the interview by Paul Bradshaw with Rick Warren, Rick said:

People ask me, What is the purpose of life?

And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were not made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.

One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me.

I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity.

We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one.

The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort; God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy.

We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness..

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer.

I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore.

Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life.

No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on.

And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for..

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems:

If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her- It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people.

You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life.

Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy.

It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease..

So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72.

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit.. We made no major purchases.

Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.

Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation..

Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity?

Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do.

That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.

Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.

Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.

Painful moments, TRUST GOD.

Every moment, THANK GOD.

God's Blessings be upon you….

Getting Old and Getting Down to Business

A huge huge huge segment of our population, the 'baby boomers', is moving into the traditional age of retirement. There is concern that this may cause a drain on the economy because of social security payments going out, a reduced work force, and retirement investments becoming a source of income.

Turns out this may not be so. Most entrepreneurs are seasoned citizens, not high energy, driven, creative younger people as conventional wisdom would have it. New businesses being created belong primarily to the group aged 55-64.

From the results of a study by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation:

In every single year from 1996 to 2007, Americans between the ages of 55 and 64 had a higher rate of entrepreneurial activity than those aged 20–34.

For the entire period, the 55–64 group averaged a rate of entrepreneurial activity roughly one-third larger than their youngest counterparts.

These trends seem likely to persist: in the Kauffman Firm Survey, a longitudinal survey of nearly 5,000 companies that began in 2004, slightly less than two-thirds of firm founders are between the ages of 35 and 54.

Additionally, Kauffman research has revealed that the average age of the founders of technology companies in the United States is a surprisingly high 39—with twice as many over age 50 as under age 25.

With people living not only longer but healthier, it may be us seasoned citizens that keep the economic engine going. Hat tip to The American Enterprise Institute. Go here for the full detailed report.

Besides, never trust anyone under 30.

About Choirs

I found this particularly interesting since I sing in a choir. Volunteering as a part of this I had not thought of, but when I look at the choir I sing in, I think every one of us take on extra duties in the church and volunteer for things in the community. I certainly know that when one of us are suffering, the love and support is deep and true.

Interesting Theology-Jesus in the Old Testament

I'm reading an interesting book, "Shocked by the Bible". He makes some interesting observations; such as 'God the Father' isn't in the Old Testament. The opening to John: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." This means that Christ is the Word, that God spoke creation into existence, and from then he spoke through the living Word, Christ. What that means is that Christ is cosmic, existing through all time. What that means is that Jesus was alive and working in the Old Testament.

I've read at least a couple hundred books of theology and church history, and I never picked up on this. It was Jesus in the Old Testament that Moses, Jacob, Abraham and all the other Patriarchs and others were seeing and talking too, not God. There are verses, which I'll refer to later, that support that no one saw God in the Old Testament, or ever. My Jewish friends will of course not accept this, and rightfully so. Jesus is not recognized as the Messiah by them.

Jesus at the Beginning. Verse 3 of John: "All things were made through Him and without Him nothing was made that was made." He's talking here about the Word, Christ. Paul shores this up in Colossians, "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him".

Jesus says in John, 5:46-47: "For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writing, how will you believe My words?" It's pretty clear he's saying he's spoken to Moses.

No one has ever seen God. John again: "No one has ever seen God. But his only Son, who is himself God, is near to the Father's heart: he has told us about him." "And the Father himself, which who sent Me (Jesus speaking), has testified of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form." 1 John 4:12 "No man has seen God at any time".

John is saying, and Jesus is confirming, that no one, ever, has seen God. So who was everybody seeing in the Old Testament?

When Abram had his name changed by God to Abraham, he was walking with someone, he was not having a vision. Abraham went to Sarah and had her fix dinner and had a calf prepared too. They sat around under a tree and dined. Jesus has said, remember, that no man has ever seen God.

I just find this mind boggling. That it was Jesus that was walking with and talking to all those people in the Old Testament. It fits right in with Jesus being the Word, and the Word is living, through all time.

Just something to ponder.

Cap and Trade-How It Worked in Spain

This is an article by George Will about how Cap and Trade worked in Spain. They have 18% unemployment. 2.2 jobs are lost for each 'green' job created. It takes millions of dollars to subsidize green jobs. We are going to import wind turbines and stuff from Spain. Where's the American jobs in that?

The Economic Impact of the Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade Bill

Testimony before the
Senate Republican Conference
June 22, 2009
Ben Lieberman: Senior Policy Analyst for Energy and Environment in the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies at The Heritage Foundation.

Here are a couple quotes. For the whole testimony go here.

"...analysis we conducted at The Heritage Foundation, which is attached to my written statement, the higher energy costs kick in as soon as the bill's provisions take effect in 2012. For a household of four, energy costs go up $436 that year, and they eventually reach $1,241 in 2035 and average $829 annually over that span. Electricity costs go up 90 percent by 2035, gasoline by 58 percent, and natural gas by 55 percent by 2035. The cumulative higher energy costs for a family of four by then will be nearly $20,000."

"But direct energy costs are only part of the consumer impact. Nearly everything goes up, since higher energy costs raise production costs. If you look at the total cost of Waxman-Markey, it works out to an average of $2,979 annually from 2012-2035 for a household of four. By 2035 alone, the total cost is over $4,600."

We estimate job losses averaging 1,145,000 at any given time from 2012-2035."

Note too that the windmills and solar panels for 'green' energy are going to be built primarily in China, who will not reduce emissions; so their thick dirty filthy air (remember in the Olympics people having to wear masks to breathe?) will get worse, and of course catch the winds.

The phone lines are jammed, emails are jammed. protesting the passage of this bill. I got through by calling my congresswoman's local office. She's a full blown Statist and proven corrupt politician, but even if that's the situation you're in, call. We've stopped blanket amnesty for illegals and we stopped Hillarycare. After we stopped this huge tax increase and impoverishing Statist legislation, we must stop Obamacare the same way.

Not one legislator has read this bill. If they are voting for it, it's because of Statist ideology. They want you poor and dependent on the State.

Now They Want to Control What Kind of Knives We Have

The Customs and Border Protection (CBP), through the upcoming Homeland Security appropriations bill is attempting to redefine what a switchblade is. The original definition is 50 years old. The legislation allegedly only affects imported knives.

The Switchblade Knife Act of 1958, defined a "switchblade" as any knife having a blade that opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button or other device in the handle, or by operation of inertia or gravity.

The new definition would include any spring-assisted or one-handed-opening knife. Which is just about any pocket knife really. Do you have a pocket knife? Is your son a boy scout? Legislative analysts say the legislation is too broad and not specific enough, so that it could be used retroactively, making anyone with a folding pocket knife a federal criminal.

Who knew folding pocket knives were a national security threat? The reason for the modified legislation is to clarify definitions for border patrol and customs agents.

That's the way to take care of national security. Go after pocket knives and have open borders.

Plus, aren't appropriations bills budget requests? Shouldn't changes to laws be separate?

Yet another example of the Statist Obama administration trying to control every every every detail of our lives... finances, what cars we drive, our medical decisions, what kind and how much energy we use, how much of our income we keep, and now, what kind of knife we have. Statists must control even the smallest details of our lives so there's no wiggle room. The more you do that violates the law, the more power and control they have.

America used to be about liberty and choices. We are quickly headed in a direction of having only one choice left...the choice to abort our babies.

Dems put Congressional Black Caucus member in charge of Congressional Black Caucus investigation

By: SUSAN FERRECHIO
Chief Congressional Correspondent
Washington Examiner
06/25/09 8:25 PM EDT

The House ethics committee is investigating a Caribbean trip taken last year by members of the Congressional Black Caucus, but they put a fellow CBC member in charge of the probe.

Among those on the trip was House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., who is already the subject of an ethics probe over nonpayment of taxes and other issues.

The group of members, all Democrats, said their trip was sponsored by a non-profit group, but the conservative National Legal and Policy Center, claims for-profit companies paid for the trip, which is a violation of House rules because it would give lobbyists for those companies access to members.

The ethics committee has formed a special subcommittee made up of four House members who will make a recommendation to the full ethics committee as to whether they think the members committed an ethics violation. Leading the investigation is fellow Congressional Black Caucus member G.K. Butterfield, D-N.C. The ranking Republican on the subcommittee is J. Gresham Barrett, R-S.C., who is running to replace embattled governor and fellow Republican Mark Sanford.

They Should Have to Pass a Test

In my last blog I noted that the cap and tax bill was probably not read by the congressmen. Many had admitted they had not read the TARP bill and voted for it, that they had not read the Omnibus Bill, and voted for it. It turns out that congressman don't read most of the bills that come up to the floor.

Where I work, whenever there is a change in procedure, or a new procedure, or any updated/changed information, we have to read it, and then sign a document that we have read and understand it.

I'm advocating here that Congress form a new committee, the "Legislative Assessment and Understanding Sub-Committee" as part of the Ethics Committee. Every Senator and Congressman has to sign a document for each Bill they have read it, in its entirety, and understand it. If it turns out they didn't, they'll be brought before the Ethics Committee, investigated, and Censured.

I'm feeling especially harsh toward politicians right now because they are, without debate and transparency, trying to pass both Crap and Tax and Obamacare. I submit that each Senator and Congressman has to take a 20 question test on each bill in the future. If they don't pass it in time for the vote, they have to abstain. I think now they vote 'yes', 'no' or 'present'. How about a vote button, 'abstain, unprepared and ignorant'. Then again, it's apparent most of them are unprepared and ignorant anyway; so would that be redundant?

Update and Correction On My Previous Cap and Trade Entry

I had stated the CBO had numbers were reflective of the Heritage Foundation's. Oops. Only a portion of it. If you want all the details of the bill go here and click the icon "Energy and Environment". Your representative probably hasn't read the bill. If they are supporting it, it's out of ideology, not sound fiscal policy.

From the Heritage Foundations analysis of the CBO analysis:
"Most problematic is their complete omission of economic damage from restricting energy use. Footnote three on page four reads, 'The resource cost does not indicate the potential decrease in gross domestic product (GDP) that could result from the cap. The reduction in GDP would also include indirect general equilibrium effects, such as changes in the labor supply resulting from reductions in real wages and potential reductions in the productivity of capital and labor).' That's a pretty big chunk of change to ignore. In The Heritage Foundation's analysis of the Waxman-Markey climate change legislation, the GDP hit in 2020 was $161 billion (2009 dollars). For a family of four, that is $1,870 that they ignore."
The CBO left a lot of costs out, which Heritage Foundation itemized.

From Heritage Foundation:
If you are looking for what to say, here’s a list of facts about how the energy tax would:

1. Reduce aggregate gross domestic product (GDP) by $9.6 trillion
2. Destroy an average of 1-3 million jobs, every year
3. Raise electricity rates 90 percent after adjusting for inflation
4. Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent
5. Raise residential natural gas prices by 55 percent
6. Raise an average family's annual energy bill by $1,500 annually
7. Increase the federal debt by 26 percent, which is $29,150 per person

If you want to protest this bill call 202 224-3121. This has been busy all day, so I went here where I entered my zip code and it gave me my congresswoman's local office. This is a Facebook site, but I'm sure if you Google your rep's name you could get the same info if you aren't a Facebook member. Or you can email your rep. I'm such a political nerd that I get an email update every time one of these knuckleheads vote.

This vote is being pushed through by the Democrat Party quickly, because they don't want to have a national debate or provide transparency. In a way, I'm kinda glad we're not having a debate here; people are getting killed by the government in Iran, and our Dear Leader said they were having a "robust debate". Make no mistake about it, this is a tax and power grab by the Democrat Party. It absolutely will drive up your cost of living and impoverish you. The Democrats know this, and want this passed before you wake up to it.

Cap and Trade-Hold on to Your Wallets

This bill is another Statist move to hobble the American economy and impoverish the American people. What it does is set limits on green house emission. I've got to note here that humans contribute about 2% or less of these emissions. Obama and the Dems have said they like to see gas prices go up; it's supposed to reduce pollutants. With this bill, everything will go up. Cap and Trade makes a definite limit on how much green house gas a company can emit. The government will have ration cards for this, which can be traded. If I were a company, I think I would move offshore (American job loss) so I wouldn't have to pass this tax on to my consumers. I would need to think about keeping costs down. If a company stayed, this bill will cost a lot of money to comply with, which ultimately the customer pays.

The Heritage Foundation did a cost analysis, which is pretty close to what the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) came up with. By the way, this bill provides huge subsidies to 'green' methods of energy production. Do you think that if wind and solar were efficient and money making, that investors would be investing? Note here that environmentalists block not only the building of nuclear plants, but even windmills. Why is that?

Our Dear Leader has admitted "Electricity Rates Would Necessarily Skyrocket" Under His Cap-and-Trade Program (January 2008)

Here's the projected costs to force consumers to reduce energy usage, according to Heritage economists: (this is projected out to 2035)

"The typical family of four will see its direct energy costs rise by $1,241 per year.
Pain at the electric meter will cause consumers to reduce electricity consumption by 36 percent. Even with this cutback, the electric bill for a family of four will be $468 more that year and $9,410 more in total from 2012 to 2035.

The higher gasoline prices will have forced households to cut consumption by 15 percent, but a family of four will still pay $565 more that year and $7,254 more between 2012 and 2035.

In total, for the years 2012-2035, a family of four will see its direct energy costs rise by $19,897. These inflation-adjusted numbers do not include the indirect energy costs consumers will pay as producers are forced to raise the price of their products to reflect the higher costs of production. Nor does the $19,897 include the higher expenditure for such things as more energy-efficient cars and appliances or the disability of driving smaller, less safe vehicles or the discomfort of using less heating and cooling.

As the economy adjusts to shrinking GDP and rising energy prices, employment will take a big hit. On average, employment is lower by 1,145,000 jobs. In some years cap and trade reduces employment by nearly 2.5 million jobs.

The negative economic impacts accumulate, and the national debt is no exception: By 2035 Waxman-Markey will have driven the national debt 26 percent above what it would be without the legislation and that represents an additional $28,728 per person, or $114,915 for a family of four. To reiterate, these burdens come after adjusting for inflation and are in addition to the $450,000 per family of federal debt that will accrue over this period even without cap and trade."

Here's an immediate indicator, just in case you're not buying into this projection.
In every state the utility companies ask for a rate hike, it's because income is down. The reason for the reduced income is because people are reducing their usage. Here's your punishment, Citizen. Be responsible, reduce your use, and you'll pay more. It'll only be different under cap and trade, because you'll pay even more. Then some more.

This is being done in the name of climate change, formerly known as global warming, which had to be changed because the globe isn't warming, and the projected impact of these draconian impoverishing measures are that by 2050 the temp of the planet may possibly be reduced by a few hundredths of a degree fahrenheit.

UPS/FedEx and the Law

Disclaimer here. I work for UPS, so I'm not a disinterested party on one level. On another level this is about lobbying and politics. There's a pretty nasty battle going on between these two companies. FedEx drivers are working under a law that makes its drivers airline employees. No other package delivery company has its drivers employed as airline employees. The actual bill before Congress is HR 915, which would re-classify FedEx drivers and they would be bound by National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) like all other package delivery drivers. FedEx drivers work under the Railway Labor Act (RLA).

FedEx at the beginning was primarily an airline delivering documents, which was fine until faxes and email became the primary means of document delivery. Putting FedEx drivers under the NLRA law only effects the drivers. Their airline personnel would still work under Railway Labor Act. FedEx is fighting this primarily because they would have to recognize unions. The government has more regulations which UPS has submit to that FedEx doesn't.

For what FedEx is saying, go here. This is clever, but a blatant lie. UPS was never a monopoly, and this legislation is not a bailout. If UPS was a monopoly then FedEx would never have come into existence. I couldn't find a similar site for UPS. Like I said, I'm not a disinterested party here, but I do think that FedEx's 186,000 plus drivers, that are on the ground, driving, should be regulated by the same laws as every other package delivery company in America.

Much of this conflict is because the government is once again involved in the private sector, essentially running businesses when it isn't any of their business.

Middle East Christians

The birth place of Christianity has a diminishing Christian population. Much of it has to do with the ongoing violence in the Middle East. It's never ending.

In the Palestinian territories the Christian population is about 2%, and they are not too popular, and are often subject to terror and persecution. I read part of an interview of an Arab Christian, and in their view, persecution isn't because of the Palestinians doing it, it's the US's (and the Jews) fault. Razek Siriani, who works for the Middle East Council of Churches in Aleppo, Syria: "We're completely outnumbered and surrounded by angry voices." "It's because of what Christians in the West, led by the US, have been doing in the East." It's because the US supports Israel, and George Bush. "To many Muslims, especially the fanatics, this looks like the Crusades all over again, a war against Islam waged by Christianity. Because we're Christians, they see us as the enemy too. It's guilt by association."

The exodus is primarily the result of the violence. Generations of it. There have been many inter-faith programs between Muslims and Christians, without much success. A monk, Paolo Dalll'Oglio, who hosts a well known program: "You can't live alongside people for a thousand years and see them as the children of Satan. On the contrary, Muslims are us. This is the lesson the West has yet to learn and that Arab Christians are uniquely qualified to teach. They are the last, vital link between the Christian West and the Arab Muslim world. If Arab Christians were to disappear, the two sides would drift even further apart than they already are. They are the go-between."

I can understand his wish and sentiment. Muslims still want to annihilate Jews, and after that Christians. Until I see the larger Muslim population rise up, hunt down, kill and imprison Islamofasists, I'll be hard pressed to think anything other than Islamofacism is predominate and supported in the Middle East. They are out to destroy Western Civilization, convert all to Islam and force all to live under Sharia law. I'm sad to read comments from Arab Christians that sound just like Islamists. It's all America and the Jews fault; not the people doing the murdering. Sad.

Just the numbers: (Present day Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Palestinian Territories) In 1882 Christianity was about 25% of the population; 1914 about 26%; 1945 about 19% and 2007 about 9%. Lebanon's current Christian population is about 1.5 million, Jordan about 258,000, Syria about a million, and Israel about 121,000.

The Christian population is diminishing rapidly, with no reason to expect a slow down of the exodus. Of course, most want to come to the US, the main cause of their persecution and suffering through so much war.

From Cinerama to Imax

I was still a kid, had my transistor radio with the little ear plug, and we got two television stations. Dad had to get up on the roof and turn the antenna to get the picture for the station we wanted to see. We had party lines then too. You had to pick up the phone and listen to make sure no one was talking before dialing. One didn't listen to other's conversation on the phone either.

There was a new movie format and we were all excited. It was called Cinerama. It would have the biggest screen ever. This was such a momentous event that we went all the way into LA to see it. LA was over an hour away! Road trip! Today people commute way farther than that. The movie we went to see was "The Brothers Grimm". Our first Cinerama experience. All along the front of the auditorium was the longest, highest screen ever. The screen was so huge three projectors had to be used. They didn't line up perfectly; you could see the lines between each section. No nevermind there! This was Cinerama! And a trip to LA!

Today I went and saw the new 'Transformers' movie in Imax. It was dazzling. Another huge screen, and no three cameras with lines between the sections. Chrystal clear images, spectacular special effects, and even some funny moments. Surround sound conveying the chest rumbling explosions and the sound of monster robots as they whomped on each other, and bombs got dropped.

I've got to wonder what movies will be like fifty years from now.

School Project Gone Wrong

An elementary school class started a class project to make planters to take home to their parents.

They wanted to have a plant in it that was easy to take care of, so they decided to use cactus plants.

The students were given green-ware pottery planters in the shape of clowns which they painted with glaze.

The clown planters were professionally fired at a class outing so they could see the process.

It was great fun!

They planted cactus seeds in the finished planters and they grew nicely, but unfortunately, the children were not allowed to take them home.

The cactus plants were removed and small ivy replaced them and the children were then allowed to take them home instead.

The teacher said cactus seemed like a good idea at the time!

School's Out- For Men

There is a serious decline in educated men. Guys are not going to college at a rate that women are. Women are a 4-3 ratio on campus, and men make up only 43% of graduates.

Reports are beginning to emerge linking feminist sexism to the trend. Boys are taught from kindergarten on that they are oppressors of girls and women, with that increasing up through college where there are 'gender studies' which are in fact anti-male indoctrination. Some reports from elementary schools are linking the lack of physical activity, PE being abolished, games like tag, dodge ball, kickball, being outlawed, and recess no longer a time to play and run off energy. There's no physical outlet there for little boys. At the college level, since Title IX, non-money making sports for men have been close to eliminated. Over 400 men's collegiate athletic teams have been cut since Title IX went into effect. At the corporate level, most men now walk on eggshells around women for fear of a sexual harassment charge.

Here's the question. What are or will be the sociological effects of under educated men and educated women? Current studies show the mismatch is affecting marriage and is part of the increased divorce rate. I'm wondering if that is because women aren't accepting of less educated mates, or is it a self esteem issue with men? Is this part of the increase of single moms? I wonder too at the corporate level, and in politics how things will change. Those might be for the better, unless the sexual discrimination gets inverted; which may happen since the anti-male indoctination is all throughout childhood and into college.

Is the femininization of America (and Western Civilization?) a good thing?

Stop Global Warming...Get Naked!

Getting and staying naked helps the environment and slows global warming. You don't have to do as much laundry, which means using less water, putting less soap into the water supply, less the cost of running your washing machine.

By the way, if you are a clothes wearer, you are a “textilist”.

$100,000 of Your Money to Help Toads Breed

The government is giving a hundred thousand bucks the University of Wyoming, Dept. of Zoology and Physiology, through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Dept. You can read the actual grant here. It seems the toads need sex therapy or coaching or something.

I'm thinking, what? Can't these guys find any horny toads that can get it on without using a hundred thousand grand of humans money? And if we're paying toads to get it on, isn't that some kind of solicitation for sex? This is toadally outrageous.

The Farcial Files

On a golf course near Kent, England, some teenagers ran onto the course with wooden planks, demanding from a group of golfers their golfing equipment. The golfers got their clubs out and beat up the teens. The teens got arrested. So did the golfers. Seems the golfers caused the teens 'bodily harm', a criminal offense.

In Austin, Texas, if you are selling a house more than ten years old, you have to pay for an energy audit. It costs $300 -$400, and must be shown to prospective buyers.

Shades of Orwell. Kids as young as seven years old are being used by the government to report people in their neighborhood that don't recycle or put their rubbish out on the wrong day. Coming to an American city near you, I'm sure.

A woman in Montreal wouldn't use the handrails on an escalator because they were filthy. She was arrested and fined $420.

Kansas City Police and medical examiners pronounced a man died of natural causes. The funeral home found three bullet wounds, two in the head.

A kid in a high school in Weber, UT wore a kilt to school as part of a project. The principal told him to change his clothes because some people might think he was cross dressing.

A man in Oklahoma was stopped by the cops because he had a bumper sticker, "Abort Obama, Not the Unborn. It could be view as a threat to the president, so the Secret Service was called in, the man interrogated for thirty minutes, and his house searched.

Hot Dogs for Thugs

Despite the thugs running Iran murdering their own citizens and imprisoning them, the Obama State Department is still having them over for hot dogs to celebrate freedom on the 4th of July.

State Department spokesman Ian Kelly: “There’s no thought to rescinding the invitations to Iranian diplomats,”
“We have made a strategic decision to engage on a number of fronts with Iran.” “We tried many years of isolation, and we’re pursuing a different path now.”

Gee, ya think now they'll stop murdering and imprisoning, and building nukes to wipe out Israel? Just be nice to evil and it'll be nice to you. Can you say 'Chamberlain'?

Same with North Korea. Talk show host Roger Hedgecock had an interesting point. He asked a caller, when did North Korea get so belligerent? Hedgecock's take is that it's been since the Pueblo incident. A US ship was captured and the US did nothing about it. The ship, by the way, is a now museum for showing US imperialism. Up until then, North Korea was quiet because they knew not to challenge the US or there would be grave consequences. They tested us with the Pueblo incident, showed we were a paper tiger, and have been nothing but trouble since.

Evil cannot be appeased. They want absolute power to destroy humanity. Period. They only understand force. That's how they see the world.

Being nice to Hitler got us what? Being nice to Stalin got us what? Being nice to Mao got us what? Now we're being nice to the mad mullahs, and getting what? We're being nice to Kim Jong Il and getting what?

Cheerios is a Drug

The FDA is going after Cheerios as a drug! That's because it claims to lower cholesterol.

The FDA, in a letter to manufacturer General Mills: "Based on claims made on your product’s label, we have determined (Cheerios) is promoted for conditions that cause it to be a drug because the product is intended for use in the prevention, mitigation and treatment of disease.”

Go see the doc to get a prescription for breakfast...

Instead of the heavy handed Statist approach, the Obama Administration could just ask General Mills to show the data to support the claim. This is yet another indication the Obama Admin wants to control every aspect of our lives; in this case controlling our health. Just think what he'll be able to do if he's able to ram through Obamacare.

Yet More MSM Slobber-Obama 'Father of Our Country'

These are actual excerpts from an article written by Jennifer Weiss in a San Francisco Chronicle article. You can read the whole wet piece here.

The wettest quotes: (emphasis mine)

"On this Father's Day, the American public should proudly note that our president takes his personal role as father (and spouse) as seriously as he does his job as father of the country. The nation has become better acquainted with President Obama in his first five months of office, and we've learned that his value to our society goes far beyond his vision for ending the economic crisis, his passion for reducing our dependence on foreign oil and his efforts to woo foreign leaders. He also has spent hours wooing some key decision-makers closer to home, namely Sasha, Malia and Michelle, and invaluable lessons are to be learned from his example.

The president has dinner with his family most nights.

The president attends his daughters' parent-teacher conferences.

The president manages to exercise every day before work.

The president has read all of the Harry Potter books with his daughter Malia.

The president has a weekly date night with Michelle. It helps to have a mother-in-law able to babysit, but kudos to the president for making sure it happens.

The president compliments Michelle in public and does not have to be begged to hit the dance floor. The president took many opportunities during his speeches on the campaign trail to praise Michelle. And who could deny he cut a rug at all those inauguration parties?

The president invited his mother-in-law to move in with his family. While there were ample incentives for Marian Robinson's move into the White House for all parties involved, proffering such an invitation could be the holy grail of a husband's commitment.

...we can only hope that fathers and spouses everywhere will be thinking "What Would Obama Do?" as they navigate through the murky waters of parenthood and family life."

I'm not sure, but don't most dads do these things, even before the 'father of our country' set the example?

jeeez...I need a shower.

Feminism Is Dead (Good Riddance) -S.E. Cupp (female writer)

Thank you, Barbara Boxer, for hammering the final nail in the coffin of angry and irrelevant pseudo-feminism. If there were any life left in its wheezing and flailing body, her latest experiment in the utterly ridiculous effectively pulled the plug.

The venomous brand of feminism that cuts men off at the knees to make women arbitrarily taller is no longer credible. When Boxer had the audacity – and some would argue, questionable mental clarity – to publicly scold a US Army general for calling her “ma’am” instead of “senator,” it telegraphed to the rest of the world the sheer inanity of today’s modern feminism, a rusting relic of the 60’s that’s been pushed so far to the extreme borders of relevance that it actually has Boxer hearing things. Yes, in today’s feminism, calling a woman “ma’am” is a mark of disrespect.

But calling another woman a “slutty flight attendant” is apparently hilarious. Never mind that the woman is a United States Governor, the first woman to hold that post in her state, and the youngest. Never mind that she’s an accomplished and hard-working, self-made woman and mother of five. Because she’s a Republican, she’s fair game for the lunatic left who, when it comes to Sarah Palin, seems to have forgotten their Feminism For Dummies handbook at their beach houses.

Letterman’s disgusting attack on Palin and her children is just the latest in a long line of reprehensible moments for limousine liberals, who, these days, eventually end up embarrassing whatever cause they seem to be promoting. Margaret Cho called Palin “the worst thing to happen to America since 9/11.” Bill Maher said she was “hot and dumb.” Roseanne Barr called her “Bad Mother Palin,” and Randi Rhodes joked that she’s “friends with all the teenage boys. You have to say no when your kids say ‘can we sleep over at the Palin’s? No! NO!” Sandra Bernhard warned she’d be gang raped in New York City, and in a stroke of absolute genius, Hollywood’s favorite little recluse, Lindsay Lohan, called her “media obsessed.”

Yet, where was the outcry from Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and other perceived protectors of women’s rights? Where was the National Organization for Women when Perez Hilton called Palin a pig or Carrie Prejean a “c” word? Where was Gloria Steinem? All we heard were crickets.

Feminism of this ilk was on its last legs back in the early 90s, when Kay Bailey Hutchison ran for Senate. Steinem slammed her conservative politics by calling her a “female impersonator.” Molly Ivins called her a “Breck girl,” for the way she tossed her hair. And actress Annie Potts said “she’s just the same old thing in a skirt.” It was a classy moment for sure, but in spite of the reverse-feminism attacks against her, Hutchison won, and became the first woman to represent Texas in the US Senate.

Flash forward 15 years and it’s clear that liberal feminism is still up to the same old tricks, wearing the same empty pant suit, and pretending to fight for women – but really it’s fighting for political gain. The credibility it once held as an agent for change and proponent of equal rights is long gone thanks to its anti-woman rhetoric, its blatant hypocrisy and the new levels of lunacy it’s reached just in the past few years. Its messengers have ruined its message.

It’s not the first time Barbara Boxer’s been criticized for helping to drive feminism into the ground to make a bizarre political statement. When she suggested that then Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice wasn’t qualified to do her job because she was childless and single, Tony Snow rightly called it “a great leap backward for feminism.”

Telling a decorated general that he can’t call her “ma’am,” when she’s been both a silent and vocal enemy to women like Rice, Palin, Prejean and others with whom she philosophically disagrees, is a fairly presumptuous demand for the very respect she hasn’t afforded others in her position.

With Pelosi irrationally attacking the integrity of the CIA, and Boxer publicly criticizing an Army general for a totally imagined slight, it’s a wonder women are taken seriously at all anymore. And as one, I admit I’m more than a little embarrassed by their behavior. They do not speak for me.

So I’d like to go on record and say that soldiers everywhere are free to call me “ma’am,” with no fear of retribution. But I do have an admittedly bizarre request in return: Please don’t call me “slutty” or some similar derivative. It sounds crazy and counter-intuitive, I know – but I guess I’m just an old-fashioned gal.

Going To Have to Build a Dam to Contain All the MSM Slobber

Yet another example of the pandering, slobbering uncritical coverage of our Dear Leader. Washington Post columnist Courtland Milloy: "The young adults in the audience were spellbound. At 47, Obama was younger than many of their dads, as eloquent as any rapper and revered even by the athletes that they hold in highest esteem."

gag me with a maggot...

ABC's Employees Overwhelmingly Donate to Obama

The group "Conservatives for Patients Rights" did some investigating and found that ABC employees contributed more than $160,000 to the Obama campaign, and McCain got less than $5,000.

You can see the actual donations in Acrobat PDF here.

But they're a disinterested purveyor of news to the American public, yes? And having a news special in prime time to help our Dear Leader ram Obamacare down our throats is for our own good, and only presents the truth about health care in America, yes?

Obama Nominates Yet Another Tax Cheat

The Dems and tax paying. Seems they're all for it, as long as someone else is doing it. This is the Party of highest tax advocacy. Tax the wealthy, then the middle class, so we can all enjoy poverty, and the Democrat politicians get richer. Unless of course you're an Obama political operative.

The newest non-paying tax cheat to be nominated is Capricia Penavic Marshall, nominee for chief of protocol at State (an ambassadorial position). Here's something disconcerting...she was owed a refund of $37,259. If you were getting a refund of that amount, wouldn't you be aware of it? Do we really want a government official that not only doesn't file her taxes, but isn't even aware she's due that amount of money? She had a bunch of lame excuses; it was her accountant's fault, her lawyer's fault, her husband's fault.

The pro- high tax Obama (D) has so far nominated:

Tax cheat Tim Geitner- failed to pay $34,000 in taxes from 2001 to 2004, and as Sec of Treasury, runs the IRS!

Tom Daschle was nominated Health and Human Services secretary- but decided to withdraw after it was revealed he failed to pay more than $120,000 in taxes. When he was a Senator he was a big time taxer, but apparently thought the law only applied to him a little bit.

Nancy Killefer was nominated to be “chief performance officer”. What is that? She didn't pay for a year and a half employment taxes on household help. How many have been caught doing that? Think any lessons were being learned there?

Apparently not there, or with Obama's vetting team. Can I do the liberal thing here, and call them hypocrites? Saying and doing opposite things. A Republican has an a affair twenty years ago; it's discovered and he's forced to resign his office, and is called a hypocrite. (I'll address the John Ensign issue in a later blog.) So you think a pro-high tax Dem that doesn't pay taxes can be call a hypocrite?

Nawwww, it was just a little mistake, a small oversight, everybody does it.

Best Bumper Sticker of the Year

WWI Vets, The Cross, and the Mojave Desert

The Mojave Desert Memorial Cross in the Mojave National Preserve was erected in 1934 by World War I veterans to commemorate their fallen comrades. For seventy-five years it's been there, and is now under attack, backed by the knuckleheads that sit on the Ninth Circuit Court. Of course the ACLU is initiating the attack on WWI Vets by claiming the Cross violates the separation of church and state.

Mathew D. Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel: "Passive displays like the World War I Memorial, the Ten Commandments, Nativity scenes, or statements like the National Motto do not force anyone to participate in a religious exercise and, thus, do not establish religion." "This case reveals the extreme lengths the ACLU will go to in order to erase religious monuments." "For 75 years this cross in the Mojave Desert did not disturb anyone." "It stood as a memorial to the heroes of World War I. Removing this memorial would be an insult to our war veterans. Doing so under the guise of the First Amendment is an insult to the Framers of the Constitution."

The ACLU is doing this because a man from Oregon has alleged he might drive on the desert road in in the middle of the nowhere and might be offended by the cross.

This land was once owned by the VFW and they had donated it to the federal government in the 1930's. An offer has been made to swap another five acres for the five the Cross sits on so it'll be back on private property. No go. Denied.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has ruled that the Cross and the land transfer violated the Establishment Clause. The Cross has been enclosed in plywood to prevent people from seeing it until the case is resolved.

Kelly Shackelford, chief counsel of Liberty Legal Institute and attorney for the veterans groups: "It is bad enough to say that the veterans’ memorial is unconstitutional, but it is outrageous to say that the government cannot give the monument back to the people who spilled their blood and put it there in the first place.”

Jay Sekulow, American Center for Law and Justice: "This is a critical case that will once again put the spotlight on the constitutionality of religious displays and the proper role of the government and its actions." "There's nothing wrong with the government transferring property containing symbols with religious significance to private parties. We're hopeful that the high court will conclude that the long-standing display of this cross does not create a constitutional crisis and that the action by the federal government represented a constitutionally-sound solution."

We're used to the ACLU and secular judges and other anti-Christian bigots attacking Christianity, but attacking WWI Vets and a symbol of their remembrance? One that sits in the Mojave Desert? Just another proof to me that the ACLU is not just intolerant anti-Christian bigots, but anti-American too. Bashing Vets.

On June 8, 2009, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Court to overturn the ruling of anti-Christian bigots of the Ninth Circuit Court.

OMG! A Cross in the Middle of Nowhere! What shall I do? I'm so offended!! Good grief.

Dearborn, Michigan, Muslims and Christians

There's a yearly gathering of Muslims in Dearborn, MI, where about 30% of the population is Muslim. There's a group called Arabic Christian Perspective, a Christian group that ministers to Muslims. They've been showing up for years talking to Muslims about the Christian faith and handing out flyers. Never been a problem. Which is surprising to me because Islam is the religion of peace and Christianity is so violent.

This group has been ruled a menace apparently, by U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmonds, and have been isolated to a designated section of the festival. Not allowed on the sidewalks, or to talk about their religion unless they're in their State authorized section. I guess there's a little bit of free speech left there.

Fay Beydoun of the American Arab Chamber of Commerce in Dearborn told the Detroit News there was "no problem" with the Christians being at the event, "but we do have to think about the safety of everyone." Once again, you better watch out for those horrible, violent Christians. They might go about stoning women that may be adulterers or taking dull swords and hacking off the heads of non-Christians.

Some points from the lawsuit by the Christian group: Public streets are properly considered a traditional public forum. "The Supreme Court has emphasized that the streets are natural and proper places for the dissemination of information and opinion; and one is not to have the exercise of his liberty of expression inappropriately abridged on the plea that it may be exercised in some other place."

And my favorite: The complaints cited a police statement that the Christians would be classified among "political parties and protesters," and would be limited to a single location. Christians as a political party, or protest group.

A Step Too Far?

If you're applying for a job for the city of Bozeman, Montana, be prepared to provide them with all your log-ins and passwords to all your websites, Facebook, Myspace, and all social networking sites, Google, Yahoo, YouTube, chat rooms, forums, etc. You have to sign a waiver for the city to log onto all your sites. Giving up your Google and Yahoo sites means they'll have access to your email too.

Bozeman officials say they've been doing this for years. They say it's necessary to ensure the integrity of city employees working with taxpayer dollars, children in recreational programs, employees that need to enter people's homes, etc.

The city (elected) officials themselves are exempt from this.

I'm certainly glad elected officials (and their employees that do the checking) have so much integrity and are so honest they would never ever abuse or take advantage of or exploit this information for personal, economic or political gain.

“Make Mine Freedom” (A 1948 cartoon with a lesson)

Explaining the Isms

Socialism: If you have two cows, you give one to your neighbor.

Communism: If you have two cows, you give them to the government and the government gives you some milk.

Fascism: If you have two cows, you keep the cows and give the milk to the government; then the government sells you some milk.

New Dealism: If you have two cows, you shoot one and milk the other; then you pour the milk down the drain.

Nazism: If you own two cows, the government shoots you and keeps the cows.

Capitalism: If you have two cows, you sell one and buy a bull.

Obama's Justice Dept.-Justice Not Blind but Racist

This is a bit dated, and a fairly obscure story, so I thought I'd re-tell it. During the last election, Obama supporters that are members of the 'New Black Panther Party' stood outside a polling place and threatened citizens with nightsticks, racial epithets, and threats. From one of the Panthers: "You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker." Many people didn't go in to vote. A Democrat poll watcher, Bartle Bull, said he has never seen "another instance in the United States where armed and uniformed men blocked the entrance to a polling location".

Justice Department won the case against these guys, and the department prosecutors starting putting together the penalties. Attorney General Eric Holder directed some of his politically loyal subordinates to drop the case against two of the men. The third was admonished not to brandish a weapon near a polling place for the next three years (about in time for the next election?).

A Handy Guide To The Age Of Obama-Victor Davis Hanson

Are you confused by all that has changed since President Barack Obama took office in January? If so, you're not alone. Perhaps, though, this handy guide to Age of Obama "logic" might be of some assistance.

• 1.The budget. Wanting to cut $17 billion from the budget, as President Obama has promised, is proof of financial responsibility. Borrowing $1.84 trillion this year for new programs is "stimulus." The old phrase "out-of-control spending" is inoperative.

• 2.Unemployment. The number of jobs theoretically saved, or created, by new government policies — not the actual percentage of Americans out of work, or the total number of jobs lost — is now the far better indicator of unemployment.

• 3.The private sector. Nationalizing much of the auto and financial industries, while regulating executive compensation, is an indication of our new government's repeatedly stated reluctance to interfere in the private sector.

• 4.Race and gender. Not what is said but who says it and about whom reveals racism and sexism. For example, an Hispanic female judge isn't being offensive if she states that Latinas are inherently better judges than white males.

• 5.Random violence. Some assassinations represent larger American pathologies, but others do not. When a crazed lone gunman murders someone outside the Holocaust Museum or shoots an abortion doctor, we should worry about growing right-wing and Christian extremism.

But when an African-American Muslim convert brags about his murder of a military recruitment officer or an Islamic group plots to kill Jews and blow up a military jet, these are largely isolated incidents without larger relevance.

• 6.Terrorism. Acts of terror disappeared about six months ago. Thankfully, we live now in an age where there will be — in the new vocabulary of the Obama administration — only occasional "overseas contingency operations" in which we may be forced to hold a few "detainees."

At the same time, ongoing military tribunals, renditions, wiretaps, phone intercepts and predator-drone assassinations are no longer threats to the Constitution. And just saying you're going to close the detention center at Guantanamo Bay is proof that it is almost closed.

• 7.Iraq. The once-despised Iraq War thankfully ended around Jan. 20, 2009, and has now transformed into a noble experiment that is fanning winds of change throughout the Middle East. There will be no need for any more Hollywood cinema exposes of American wartime crimes in Iraq with titles like "Rendition," "Redacted," "Lions for Lambs" and "Stop-Loss."

• 8.The West. Western values and history aren't apparently that special or unique. As President Obama told the world during his recent speech in Cairo, the Renaissance and Enlightenment were, in fact, fueled by a brilliant Islamic culture, responsible for landmark discoveries in mathematics, science and medicine.
Slavery in America ended without violence. Mistreatment of women and religious intolerance in the Middle East have comparable parallels in America.

• 9.Media. The media are disinterested and professional observers of the present administration. When television anchormen and senior magazine editors bow to the president, proclaim him a god or feel tingling in the legs when he speaks, it is quite normal.

• 10.George W. Bush. Former President Bush did all sorts of bad things to the United States that only now we are learning will take at least eight years to sort out. "Bush did it" for the next decade will continue to explain the growing unemployment rate, the most recent deficit, the new round of tensions with Iran and North Korea, and the growing global unrest from the Middle East to South America.

Once we remember and accept the logic of the above, then almost everything about this Age of Obama begins to make sense.

Obama, The Fly, and PETA

Well, not everyone is enamored of our Dear Leader swatting a fly, swooning comments not withstanding. PETA has chastised the Swatter in Chief for murdering the poor innocent beast. Seriously. They sent him a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside. I didn't know that PETA members were Jains "advocating harmlessness towards all, whether these be creatures great or small. This policy extends even to microscopic organisms". Maybe if these knuckleheads practiced some of the other principles of Jainism they would be more tolerable.

Even Obama Swatting Fly is Breaking News

The ninja Obama, our Dear Leader, swatted a fly. I'm swooning!!!! Such grace! Such precision! Some quotes from the worshiping MSM:

David Gregory on the "Today" show: "You just have to appreciate the, the concentration and the precision! Just a few things going on in the world but it's as if everything was stopped and at a standstill for the President to lower the boom."

Chris Wragge on "The Early Show": "We've also just confirmed the President is a Ninja."

Chris Cuomo on "Good Morning America" describing the event on a telestrator: "You see? He stares at the fly. How many times have each of us tried to do this? Look at the hand coming up. The poise. The cupping. And the quick slap...Just knocked it away, very rare."

Good grief.

"Scientific American" the Un-Science Mag

A couple years ago I canceled my subscription to "Scientific American" because the editor wrote they were going to become proponents of Statist ideology. He didn't word it that way, but his intent was clear. I had subscribed to keep up with scientific news, and was now being told that only science that supported the Statist agenda would be covered.

In the June edition of the mag: "After eight long years in exile, scientists have been enthusiastically welcomed back into the White House." Our Dear Leader was mentioned as being one of ten people "who have recently demonstrated outstanding commitment to assuring that the benefits of new technologies and knowledge will accrue to humanity." This all has to do with 'climate change' previously known as 'global warming' (which had to be changed because of increasing scientific evidence that temperatures are static or cooling).

The praise went on, "He wiped away science-averse policies." No, Scientific American, he wiped away science based policies.

I also quit reading "Time" magazine in the eighties when it's founder Henry Luce died. They too had a editorial stating they were going to present news through the Statist filter. I was just beginning my shift from being a Marxist at that time, and even then I was interested in straight reporting, not editorialized reporting.

Is a society really free when most of the media, even science media, deliberately filters and even lies to maintain, even grow an ideology? When it refuses to report and inform and let the people determine for themselves how to read, accept or reject what's reported? Keep the people ignorant, they'll be easier to rule.

More Media god-worship of Obama

A few posts ago I quoted the editor of Newsweek saying Obama is sorta like a god here, and worship continues.

Chris Matthews, who gets 'a thrill running up my leg' when he thinks about our Dear Leader, continues his obeisance in a recent show. While introducing Howard Dean he said, " the man who really laid out the path for Barack Obama. He was the St. John the Baptist...leading for that fellow." For non-Christian readers, John the Baptist preceded and announced the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

There you have it, Obama as Saviour, Christ, the Holy One.

Good grief.

Mia Farrow's Brother Committs Suicide-It's Bush's Fault

Bush Derangement Syndrome is still running strong with the Statists. Mia Farrow's brother committed suicide, the cops are saying under suspicious circumstances, and it's under investigation. Farrow's brother was a 66 year old sculptor.

What's Bush got to do with this? A nephew; Patrick Farrow who had spent nearly 20 years in the Army was killed in Iraq is the connection. Remember that military service is voluntary and this man was a career soldier.

Patrick Farrow told The Associated Press after his nephew's May 25, 2008, death he felt as though he had been "kicked in the stomach."

"I've been opposed to this war since the beginning," Farrow said then. "This lying Bush administration has gotten into this thing that has now killed my nephew. It's up close and personal, and I am deeply angry."

Suicide. It's Bush's fault. Good grief.

ABC-State Run Media-No Opposing Views Allowed

If the shoe were on the other foot, ABC doing a special on Bush's Social Security proposals, for example, and not allowing the Statists to have any opposition air time, they would be screaming bloody murder. ABC is running an infomercial for Obamacare, and not only will an opposing point of view not be allowed during the advocacy programming, but ABC denied even paid programming offering a rebuttal.

ABC has denied requests for air time from the Republican National Committee and Conservatives for Patients Rights.

Ordinarily I wouldn't go the the Statist route; they yell censorship every time they don't get their whining broadcast or printed, even when it's not a state run outlet. I'll yell censorship this time because the 'All Barak Channel' is in fact now a state run media outlet.

This is just a couple weeks after Brian Williams did a slobbering kissy-face bowing down special on how beautiful, wonderful and god-like the Obama's are. NBC- State run media too.

Johns Hopkins Report Just Released-A Must Read If You Value Your Health

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY ('TRY', BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .
Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins :
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3 When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.
CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering.. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Florescence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the bodies own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit.. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

1. No plastic containers in micro.
2. No water bottles in freezer.
3. No plastic wrap in microwave.
Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Cast le Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food you get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons..
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.

Please remember to send this article out to anyone that's important in your life. Count how many friends and loved ones have died of cancer in the last 12 months?

Senate Chaplin Barry Black

I happened to catch a bit of an interview on Laura Ingram's program a few days ago with the Senate Chaplin Barry Black. This is an impressive man of God. An impressive man, with a great story to tell.

He's the 62nd Senate Chaplin and a Seventh Day Adventist, and is Pastor to about 6,000 people on the Hill. Senators and their families, Chiefs of Staff and all their employees. He was a Rear Admiral and Chief of Navy Chaplin's when President Clinton appointed him Senate Chaplin.

He was one of eight children to a single mother in the projects in Baltimore. Her focus was God, Church and children. She would give a nickel for each Bible verse they memorized. He related to Laura Ingram that he started small, "Jesus wept", and mastered Proverbs because they were short, and it became his favorite book. A good thumbnail bio is here but I'm so moved by what he has to say. God's spirit flows from the man with strength and humility. Here are a couple quotes from him:

"My identity is not rooted in what my job title may be, because a job can change. My identity is rooted in who I am in Christ. And I see myself as the apostle Paul puts it in 1 Corinthians 4:1, as a servant of Christ and a steward of His mysteries. So I think that whether I'm in the Senate, the Navy Chaplaincy, or in a congregational setting, it really doesn't matter. I believe that He requires, as Paul says, that servants and stewards be found faithful."

"If you want to faithfully interpret the word of God, start praying the Scripture. It will energize your prayer life. When you pray before an open Bible, you give God the courtesy of starting the conversation. And so I will open the Bible and I will read until something stops me, something impresses me, something warms my heart. And then I'll talk to God about it."

His book is "From the Hood to the Hill".
