A Step Too Far?

If you're applying for a job for the city of Bozeman, Montana, be prepared to provide them with all your log-ins and passwords to all your websites, Facebook, Myspace, and all social networking sites, Google, Yahoo, YouTube, chat rooms, forums, etc. You have to sign a waiver for the city to log onto all your sites. Giving up your Google and Yahoo sites means they'll have access to your email too.

Bozeman officials say they've been doing this for years. They say it's necessary to ensure the integrity of city employees working with taxpayer dollars, children in recreational programs, employees that need to enter people's homes, etc.

The city (elected) officials themselves are exempt from this.

I'm certainly glad elected officials (and their employees that do the checking) have so much integrity and are so honest they would never ever abuse or take advantage of or exploit this information for personal, economic or political gain.
