How the Democrats Are Defending Their Assault on Freedom of Religion

There's the observation man isn't a rational being, but a rationalizing being. This vid shows Dems justifying forcing religious institutions to submit to the State in violation of their teachings and beliefs, and in violation of the First Amendment. The most frightening of all this justifications comes at 2:04. This woman is actually a national politician, as well as incredibly stupid. Gwendolyne Moore, Wisconsin Democrat: "The National Institute of Health has said that it is a danger to women's health and safety of their families, that for 30 years, to be exposed to the prospects of pregnancy." Pregnancy is a health and safety issue that women are exposed to? It's a prospect of something unhealthy, or something.  What?

The government mandating what products and services citizens should buy. In the case of the Catholic Church, it's been suggested that going forward they needn't hire employees that don't have the same values and belief system as the Church. How many law suits would that generate, denying employment based on ideology?

If a government controls healthcare, it controls every aspect of every citizen's life. Every citizen will have to obey the State to get health care. Guns are unhealthy. Ban them. Religion endangers the health of women. Suppress it. Leftists/Democrats have done very well suppressing free speech with political correctness, to the point now, if you call a black man "Juan" without the correct inflection you're a racist. Traditional press has given up it's freedom; it willing and with joy does the bidding of the State. Pretty much us in the blogosphere are what's left of the free press, and the State is doing everything it can to get control of that.

Dems and Straight Talk Campaign for 2010

Looking at how the Dems are activating their policies, wouldn't be great if they campaigned on what they were doing; not doing and saying they aren't doing it? I know, a bit convoluted, but you'll get the drift here in a minute.

They way they have attacked Arizona, trying to destroy and impoverish American citizens that live there, advocating for the violation of immigration law, and being pro illegal immigration. Here's what they should be saying during their campaign: We advocate for the repeal of existing Federal immigration law. We advocate for open borders so there won't be any illegal immigration. We think anyone that came to this country illegally be given citizenship and registered as a Democrat immediately.

Dems were and are for, TARP, the Bailout, stimulus package, largess to Goldman Sachs and hiring their execs into positions of gov't power, the buying of private companies with printed money and (not yet received) taxes. The US has the highest (maybe second highest) Corporate tax rate in the world. They should be saying in next election: We believe in a weak private sector controlled by government, and all corporate profits should go to the government.

Taxes go up for the half of the country that pay taxes for the non-producing half every time Democrats are in power. The campaign: The money you make belongs to the government, and we'll decide how much of it you get to keep. We have to keep our constituents housed and fed.

Dems are against drilling for oil, oil exploration, coal power, nuclear power, building refineries. They should run on: We know alternative energy sources are really expensive and inefficient, but we are stopping all production of traditional energy sources. Only Venezuela, Vietnam, China and Cuba will be allowed to drill in the Gulf of Mexico. We will agree to pay whatever price they set. GE will be the sole provider of Green Energy and Energy products and services.

Dems have been criticizing Israel and giving a pass to Iran's nuclear armament programs, and not really blaming Hamas, PLO and those guys for much of anything. Dems should just campaign on: We support Terrorist States, and do not support democratic states in the Middle East. We do not support Israel defending itself, and will require they disarm. They are the true threat to Middle East peace.

Dems are for the Fairness Doctrine, and their Supreme Court nominee doesn't think the Constitution allows free speech (really, it's in a published paper she wrote). The Fairness Doctrine is about killing conservative media outlets, and anti-free speech Kagan they wholehearted support. They should campaign: We advocate for an amendment to the Constitution enumerating powers to the government to limit free speech.

Dems passed health care. Honest people, ones that have read the bill, know that it removes all private/personal choice regarding health issues from people. They should campaign: Gov't medical care is the best way, that politicians and government workers know best what medical issues are most important, and how to deal with them. Abortion should be government funded because it is a health issue.

These and a few others, campaign on them, make them a part of the Party Platform, and Dems will absolutely be swept into power unopposed. They're already doing these things, they should just say this is what they're doing. Come on now. Be honest. It's good for you.

The Vote Down the Throats

The Vote came down to this.

U.S. House Roll Call Votes On Passage of the Bill "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act" (H.R. 3590) Sunday, March 21, 2010.

YEAs: 219 (Voting yes were 219 Democrats and 0 Republicans)
NAYs: 212 (Voting no were 34 Democrats and 178 Republicans)
(There are 4 vacancies in the 435-member House.)
How each Congressman voted here.

It's estimated that this bill will add somewhere between $1.5 - $2 Trillion, while at the same time saving billions and reducing insurance premiums by 3000%. The 3000% is a quote a couple days ago by Obama. How costing trillions more reduces costs and lowers the deficit is a mystery to me. Whenever I spend more money, I have less of it. When I borrow money and spend it, I shoot right past zero and have less than less of it.

Here's one accounting trick the Dems are using. They will collect revenues for Obamacare for four years before spending or "outlays". Of course they will use that money for their other Statist programs, not invest it in health programs.

Doctors will receive cuts in Medicare payments; so do you think they will continue to provide Medicare services? Would you work for less money? About 30% of doctors say they will change professions. These are smart people, and have plenty of professional options open.

Taxes: $409.2 billion in additional taxes by 2019, and who do you think will pay those? Of course the Dems say rich people will, but rich people can hide their wealth. Who's left? You, middle class America. The "poor", the nearly half of the population that doesn't pay taxes, get an even bigger free ride. Do you have a really good policy? Cadillac plan penalties of course won't be paid by union members, rich people have their own coverage, and poor people get a free ride. Who does that leave? Middle class people. We're talking about a 40% excise tax. If you're a small businessman making $250,000...that's your income from your business that is taxed as personal income, would you expand your business so you can pay more taxes?

Need a wheelchair? Taxed an extra 2.3%. How's that for compassion? I have several friends in wheelchairs, and every one of them struggles financially. Need a hip replacement? Added tax.

Business. They already know it's cheaper to pay the fines to not cover their employees than cover them. Insurance executives that get paid over $500,000 will be penalized, and will not be able to take deductions. Someone want to show me where in the Constitution it says the government can control private citizens' pay?

This last really caps all this. Citizens who don’t buy insurance will be fined $325 in 2015 and $695 in 2016. After that you can get penalized as much as 2.5 percent of your income in 2016, if the total is greater than the flat payment. Someone want to show me where in the Constitution the government can force citizens to buy a product and fine them if they don't? Dems say health care is a "right". Can anyone show me a "right" that you decide not to indulge, that you'll be fined and/or sent to prison?

Complete esoteric details of tax, prison, fines, and the rest of this unconstitutional mess here.

My suggestion, after Obama signs this, if you have a complaint about your insurance company, call your representative and senator. Have a complaint about your doctor, call your representative and senator. When your insurance rates go up, call your representative and your senator. If you're on Medicaid, and your state decides it's cheaper not to have it, that the Fed's have to carry the weight, and you're denied care, call your representative or senator. If the cost of your meds go up, and they will, call your representative or senator. I say all this because they know better than you and your doc how to treat what ails you. Next time you're in the DMV, and waiting forever to be called for a 10 minute transaction, just be thinking, "Boy! I can't wait until my medical care is so great!"

By the way, Leftist CNN has new poll today, shows 59% of Americans are against this. Before today 52%-56% against.

Even more esoteric details of this plan here.

Pelosi & Reid Saying Abortion Financing Not in HealthCare Bill

Here's Pelosi and Reid saying abortion financing is not in the bill, but here's an actual picture of the page and paragraph of it. Couple that with Pelosi's monumentally stupid statement, “[W]e have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.” These knuckleheads have moved from passing legislation they haven't read, to just making stuff up, and telling us to trust them.

Here's Pelosi actually making her monumentally stupid statement.

Health Care and Insurance Industry Profits

Part of the web of lies about health insurance and health care that the Dems are weaving are that they take in obscene profits. From Forbes, here's the profit breakdown. I noticed too that the oil industry's profit margin isn't that high either. I think too that these knuckleheads in congress with six figure salaries have a way too high profit margin. What do they produce but headaches for the rest of us? Most of their legislation is damaging to the socio-economic structure of this country.

The Farcical Files

Here are some stories from around the world that just goes to show how well government anything is just soooooo marvelous. And there are people that want to turn their lives over to just the kind of people in these short stories.

Can't use the word "meep" at Danvers High School in Massachusetts. Been banned. It's from the "Muppets" and no one knows what it means. An attorney thought it so ridiculous that she sent an email with the offensive word to the school masters, and they reported her to the police. Meep, meep, meep, meep.....

There was a car accident in Dorset, England, injuring a child on a bike. The child had a fractured skull and the medics on the scene called for some help. The other paramedics were on break, and weren't allowed to go to the scene. Policy violation.

Dateline: England's Middlemoor Water Park. Man standing in shallow water got hit by out of control jet ski. Broken back and ribs and a punctured lung. The water was six inches deep, the man is lying there in excruciating pain, but the medics wouldn't fetch him, you see, because procedure said that the fire department had jurisdiction.

Don't take your kids here to play. In Watford Borough in England, parents have to stay outside the fence of the park, and their children will be attended to by government employees. Parents must be dangerous indeed. The knuckleheads that passed this law said it's to protect the kids.

Of course the knuckleheads in CA are passing legislation limiting the energy consumption of televisions. Not than anyone would think of going elsewhere to get the set they want.

And finally, about the government making the purchase of healthcare insurance mandatory under penalty of fine and/or jail. Some wit said, imagine the prison scene. "What are you in for?" "Rape and Murder." "What are you in for?" "Refused to buy government health insurance."

Arguing With Liberals (fm "American Thinker")

Here's the high points from an article from the "American Thinker" by By Jeremy Meister. I've pointed out many times that debating with a liberal only devolves into being personally attacked and mocked because they don't listen, don't have facts, don't want to hear details, and think they should be provided for just because they exist. Here are some great points if you're a Conservative and once again trying to have a discussion, especially about health care.

"Personally, I'm tired of giving Liberal idiots sources they never read, reminding them of political promises now being broken, and pointing out the gross hypocrisy of the liberal Congress. Lefties don't care. They hear the word "free" and they're sold. Which is kind of interesting when you consider that they dub anyone opposed to health care reform 'greedy' and 'selfish.'"

"Talk about "greedy" and "self serving." Conservatives aren't the ones out there demanding that someone else pay for their health care/school/retirement/whatever. Conservatives aren't the ones out there demanding that the government use threats and coercion to force their neighbors into systems said neighbors might not like."

"A more obnoxious argument is, "You don't like government? Then you should pull out of fire and police then."

Yeah right, there is no difference at all between a 1,900-page Socialized Medicine law --which will affect all people inside the boundaries of the United States -- and local law enforcement. Not one single difference. None at all. Thank you for pointing that out."

"I've argued with tons of Lefties. Trust me: they don't listen, try to understand, or care. Everyone who disagrees with them is an evil racist, sexist, homophobe driven by intolerance. And that's why it's okay for them to go on narrow-minded rants: teabaggers, evil white males, racists, etc., without even trying to understand the arguments of the other side."

"They're going to try to impose their system on the rest of us, doesn't matter what we think or want. Never try to get in the way of Liberals and what they think they're owed by virtue of their existence."

Article: "Random Thoughts" by Thomas Sowell

Random thoughts on the passing scene: Link here.

Upon learning that the Constitution requires a president to be a natural born citizen, a college student said: "What makes a natural born citizen any more qualified than one born by C-section?"

Airlines that keep passengers trapped for hours in planes sitting on the runway should be prosecuted for unlawful imprisonment.

When politicians propose some hugely expensive new program and are asked how the government is going to pay for it, a standard ploy over the years has been to claim that they will pay for it by eliminating "waste, fraud and abuse." At a recent town hall meeting, a citizen raised the obvious question: If you can do that, why haven't you done it already?

Marxism is an ism that has become a wasm.

What is called "universal health care" can turn out to be universal "don't care" medical treatment, when Washington bureaucrats can over-rule what you and your doctor want to do.

Whatever happened to Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel? Could she have met with foul play? Where is the FBI when we need them?

The older I get, the more I learn to tolerate human shortcomings-- and the less I tolerate bad attitudes.

After political crusades for "affordable housing" ended up ruining the housing market and much of the economy with it, many of the same politicians are now carrying on a crusade for "affordable health care." But what you can afford has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of producing anything. Refusing to pay those costs means that you are just not going to continue getting the same quantity and quality-- regardless of what any politician says or how well he says it.

Want to win an easy bet? Bet someone that Babe Ruth had a lower lifetime earned run average than Cy Young, Whitey Ford or Sandy Koufax. During his early years with the Red Sox, Ruth pitched nine shutouts in a season, which is still the American League record for a left-handed pitcher. He would have made the baseball hall of fame, even if he had never hit a home run.

Congressman Joe Wilson got into more trouble for telling the truth than President Barack Obama got into by telling a demonstrable lie about adding millions of people to the insurance rolls without adding a dime to the deficit. As regards providing medical insurance for illegal immigrants, I doubt that the president will do that. More likely, he will legalize them first and then give them medical insurance.

The way Hollywood elites have sprung to the defense of Roman Polanski to keep him from being extradited to the United States, despite the heinous crime he is accused of, suggests that-- like other egalitarians-- they consider those who are "one of us" to be more equal than others.

When I contemplate the direction in which this government and this society are moving, my biggest consolation is that economists' predictions are often wrong. I can only hope that my expectations are wrong by miles.

What is most frightening about the political left is that they seem to have no sense of the tragedy of the human condition. All problems seem to them to be due to other people not being as wise or as noble as they are.

Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "Think things, not words." In words, many see a need for "social justice" to override "the dictates of the market." In reality, what is called "the market" consists of human beings making their own choices at their own cost. What is called "social justice" is government imposition of the notions of third parties, who pay no price for being wrong.

Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Muammar Qaddafi and Vladimir Putin have all praised Barack Obama. When enemies of freedom and democracy praise your president, what are you to think? When you add to this Barack Obama's many previous years of associations and alliances with people who hate America-- Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Father Pfleger, etc.-- at what point do you stop denying the obvious and start to connect the dots?

Consumer Reports Goes Political

I quit reading "Scientific American" because they decided, stated in a 'letter from the editor', that on certain issues they are going to take a more political view, specifically global warming (now call climate change) even though the science doesn't support it. Other issues were stated. I quit reading "Time" many many years ago because when founder Luce died, a 'letter from the editor' stated they would approach reporting from a decidedly liberal point of view.

Now "Consumer Reports" has jumped on the band wagon, deciding to let political views trump reporting. Health care is the issue. Publisher Jim Guest: "Health care has been a top priority of Consumers Union since we started back in 1936. In the pages of Consumer Reports and the advocacy work we do for consumers, we've long argued for better health care that's more affordable and reliable." "While working for better health care is not new for our organization, today we are doing something that we've never done before. For the first time ever, Consumers Union is weighing in with a TV ad that calls on lawmakers to find a solution for health reform."

Another chapter in 'we worship, you don't get to decide'. These information and news sources at one time may have had particular world view and reported from that, and that's okay, but just becoming an advocate when they are supposed to inform? Lacks as being a credible source for me on every issue. If they're willing to do that for one issue, how do we know they aren't hedging on other issues?

Denied!

Some still think the government running health care will get more people taken care of. Someone has actually looked at the numbers. Who has the most denial of care? Cigna, Aetna, Humana? The AMA itself in its 2008 National Health Insurer Report Card (PDF of report here) has shown that Medicare, gov't run, gov't controlled, healthcare program has about double the amount of care denials than all the private insurers combined.

Every nationalized health care program is a failure and has the highest rate of denials. Every government program that's supposed to help 'the masses' is broke and bankrupt. Of course, none of these programs is about helping, it's about controlling people. This specifically is about taking over another large chunk of the insurance industry. Does anyone really think politicians in DC give a fly about anyone's health but their own?

Eat Your Fruits and Veggies Boys and Girls

Will a member of your local food policy council be visiting you to make sure you're eating all your fruits and vegetables? The government knows what's best for you chil'n. So you best pay attention to what Mama State tells you to eat.

This is based on “State Indicator Report on Fruits and Vegetables, 2009” from the CDC. If the Statists force ObamaCare on the citizens, don't you think, that to get certain kinds of health care, they will force people to eat and behave in certain ways? This report breaks down, by state, fruit and veggie consumption. They are working toward mandating what grocery stores are carrying.

This is part of the CDC's food policy council's mandate, and are to “make recommendations about policies and programs such as farm-to-school programs, community gardens, farmers markets and availability of fresh produce in supermarkets." Twenty states already have food councils. Plus there's 59 local councils. Who knew?

Some of the "stimulus" money will go for promoting this programs to get all you chil'n to eat according to gov't standards. Wasn't "stimulus" money to be used to stimulate economic growth? Already tried, and failed so far, are increased taxes on soda, burgers, or anything the gov't doesn't think is good for you. Meanwhile, the Bamster and his wife and kids wolf down greasy mush burgers, fries and shakes.

HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius: “Today’s announcement is an important step toward a healthier America.” “We know that many chronic diseases are preventable, and the resources now available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will assist states and territories in the implementation of proven prevention and wellness programs that will save lives and lower health care costs for all Americans.”

Janet Collins, director of CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion: “Chronic diseases are the leading cause of premature death in the country, account for spiraling health care costs, and cause disability and suffering for millions of Americans.” “The good news is that we can greatly reduce the toll of chronic disease by reducing just four risk factors -- tobacco use, physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and obesity. With these new funds, states and territories will work to improve the environments where their residents live, work, learn, and play so that healthy choices become the easy choice.”

I swear, when I go to the grocery store there's lots of fruits and veggies in the produce section. What are they talking about? Don't you, and not some obese politician or State bureaucrat decide what you should eat?

Future of American Health Care with ObamaCare?

James Paget Hospital, in Great Britain, refused to help a mother and baby because the baby was born at 21 weeks and the gov't guidelines say no help should be rendered until 22 weeks. Intensive care is not to be given by the gov't until 23 weeks. The baby was born with a strong heartbeat and was moving its limbs.

The future of healthcare in Amerika? Article here. This fits perfectly with Obama's voting to not help babies that have survived an abortion attempt.

Senate Finanace Committee Non-Transparency Leakage

Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold gave a note to Nevada Senator John Ensign. Could this be one of the reasons the Senate Finance Committee won't release their health care bill before they vote?

Health care insurance will be mandatory. If you don't get it, there will be a $1,900 fine. You could also have to pay out $25,000 and get jail time.

Goverment. Looking out for you. Shut up and obey or we will impoverish and imprison you. I'm disgusted. This will no doubt disappear and the MSM and Dems will say it was all a lie by bloggers, the Tea Bag Nazi racist mob, and people that hate sick people. Didn't know that? If you're against ObamaCare, not only are you a racist and terrorist, you hate sick people (thanks Keith Olbermann of MSNBC).

MSM Worships, You Don't Get to Decide V

Buyer Beware. The MSM is reporting that 45,000 Americans die a year because they don't have health insurance. Statist newsreader Couric: “...while the debate goes on over the cost of insuring everyone, a new study reveals the cost of not doing it. The Harvard study says nearly 45,000 American deaths every year are linked to a lack of insurance.” The study actually is from the Physicians for a National Health Program, “the only national physician organization in the United States dedicated exclusively to implementing a single-payer national health program.”

Meanwhile, Investors Business Daily, full article here, polled doctors. Forty-five percent would quit, if ObamaCare is implemented. That certainly would save a lot of people. Plus, "72% of the doctors polled disagree with the administration's claim that the government can cover 47 million more people with better-quality care at lower cost." Plus, "Two-thirds, or 65%, of doctors say they oppose the proposed government expansion plan. This contradicts the administration's claims that doctors are part of an "unprecedented coalition" supporting a medical overhaul."

"Four of nine doctors, or 45%, said they "would consider leaving their practice or taking an early retirement" if Congress passes the plan the Democratic majority and White House have in mind."

In the journalism I was taught, both these stories would have been reported.

A side note, FAIR, Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting, a Leftist media watchdog group, reports that Fox News is biased to Republicans. They did a head count and show that more Republicans get interviewed that Dems. I would like to see how many Dems are invited and refuse interviews. They are a cowardly lot, and mostly go to venues that toss softballs to them. I want to see the number of refused interviews.

Want the Gov't Telling You What to Eat and Drink?

While the Bambster and his Statist followers say that ObamaCare doesn't infringe on the personal lives of citizens, it's already afoot to do just that. We've all heard of the soda tax, and projected tax increases for products that the gov't says are bad for you. (Meanwhile, back at the Whitehouse, the First Family stuffs themselves with greasy mush burgers and ice cream....OMG! they're killing their own kids with this stuff!)

Statist trial balloon being sent up in California. Sen. Alex Padilla, of the late great state of California, is proposing just such legislation. Kids are drinking soda and getting fat. Padilla: "I don't think that most parents truly appreciate the role soda pop has in causing weight gain." "It is unfortunate that soda is actually cheaper than milk and even bottled water in many instances."

The soda industry is a $15 billion a year enterprise. Of course it's a capitalist success story so our Dear Leader and his followers must destroy it. No one is forced to drink soda. No one is forced to overeat. We, right now, have a choice whether or not we do. Let ObamaCare in, and they will legislate what you can eat and drink. That will in effect control the soda industry. Of course booze ain't such a good deal, so that'll need to get controlled. Where is the money going to come from to pay for all this regulation and enforcement? You know the increased taxes on food and beverages the gov't deems ungood for you will not be enough, so other taxes will have to be raised to compensate.

A majority of these people I remember coming out against PE in school, and still do. Perhaps exercise, play, outdoor activities are the answer, not government intervention into our personal lives. We were healthy kids, and we spent a lot of time outside running around, playing basketball, kickball (nanny state has outlawed that fun activity), touch football, tag (nanny state has outlawed that fun activity) swings and monkey bars (nanny state has outlawed those fun activities) is the answer to fat kids. Can one say fat kids? OMG! Are the thought police going to come after me?

Here's' a novel idea. People be responsible for their own health and health costs. Maybe the traditional nuclear family can teach their kids to eat and drink responsibly. Maybe truly reform health care along these lines. Of course, with a program like ObamaCare, well, so what if we get fat and get diabetes, the government will take care of us. Who needs personal responsibility and accountability when the Bambster and his sycophants will take care of you. I think too that politicians should lead by example. If they are over their BMI then they have to, by law, lose the weight before they can pass any legislation. FAT chance.

Cap and Trade Faces Another Setback

The Competitive Enterprise Institute had to file using the Freedom of Information Act to get this from the "transparent" Obama Administration. Guess what? Cap and Tax will cost taxpayers bundles of money. The U.S. Department of Treasury says new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. That's $1,761 a year per household. This is about a 15% tax hike on you and me. I'm sooooo surprised our Dear Leader has been covering this up.

Cap and Tax is only an academic theory and it's unknown if the program will effect anything except the citizens' bank accounts. Can you do with 15% less income? Those of us that are producers in the country, when adding together all the fees and taxes from every governmental level, are already paying out 40%-50%. For what? Of course this program isn't about the environment, any more than ObamaCare is about health. It's about raising money and amassing power.

This may but the brakes on it getting passed. It got through the house by the skin of its teeth. Hopefully this will kill it.

Confused About Pelosi and Health Care Lobbyists

After months of railing against lobbyists, health care insurers, and others in the private sector health care industry, she's attending a fund raiser with same. Don't know what to call this...hypocrisy or double standard. Well, for sure greed and lust for power covers it.

She's attending a fund raiser, September 24th, with a lobbyist, Steve Elmendorf of United Health. If you would like to attend, entry is only $2,400, or if you represent a Political Action Committee $5,000. ummmm, aren't PAC's lobbies? Isn't Pelosi against taking money from lobbyists? If the private sector health care people are so evil and vile, wouldn't she want to stay away? I know I have a tendency to at least shun evil people, not cavort and party and take money from them.
