Lamb of God

The vid below speaks of the “Lamb of God” and many may not know the source of the term, and why Jesus Christ is called such. It goes back to Genesis, when Abraham was commanded by God to go up the mountain and sacrifice his son.

“And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together. And Isaac said to his father Abraham, “My father!” And he said, “Here am I, my son.” He said, “Behold, the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they went both of them together.” (Gen 22)

Abraham was willing to offer his own son, but instead God did, his son Jesus. Abraham was offered a lamb in place of his son; God made His son the Lamb. John the Baptizer recognized this, and when Jesus came to him to be baptized, said: “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

From this is the meaning of this song.
