Monsters, Gnats, and the Path of Least Resistance

We hear buzzing, knowing it’s far off, of no consequence, yet we focus on it. Overhead is the giant paw of a monster, and we’re aware of it. Yet we choose to ignore it. Sometimes the gnat is the focus of all the people around us. Sometimes we choose to focus on it of our own volition. We don’t want to recognize that giant paw in our personal lives either.

I take a look at what’s happening politically. We have a president and his Party that focuses on vaginas. Sex. Abortion. Contraception. A totally fabricated war on women. That’s the gnat. The monster whose paw we’re aware of and whose hot breath we can feel on our collective neck is the rise of terror which is dismissed in a barrage of euphemisms and apologetics, terrorists and diseases coming across open borders with the attendant humanitarian crises, over ninety million people out of work but not counted because their unemployment payments have run out, record number of people on food stamps, Russia making serious threats to the security of Europe and the world, China able to crumble our economy with the snap of its communist fingers, and cyber-attacks on both our military and civilian computer run infrastructure. Our national debt plus unfunded liabilities bring us very close to the limit of the total value of everything in this country. Plus, of course, anti-Semitism not only tolerated in Europe, but here in the US and supported by Jews. That last especially stuns me.

Not important; any of it. What’s important is that gnat. Vaginas, pay equality, and most recently, “free” junior college, and calling names, throwing insults at people that say, “Hey, we better pay attention to this monster”!

What or who is the big gnat, the evil in this country? Conservatives, Christians (more dangerous and evil as terrorists whose religion of death and destruction, but we better not say that of Islamofacists), TEA Party members, people that think the US Constitution is good law and should be followed, combat experienced vets. What’s good is abortion, the race industry (what Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton do) having open borders, protecting Hamas, PLO, ISIS, Muslim Brotherhood, and supporting the destruction of Israel and the attendant anti-Semitism. Heterosexual marriage is evil, homosexual marriage good. Hating the successful is good, unless the successful (wealthy) got that way through entertainment or corrupt politics.

At the personal level, we find that far away gnat. Instead of expressing to someone how much they irritate us we take it out on some unsuspecting soul. Then they think, what the hell is wrong with him? They won’t say anything either. Then at work, if you’re in a position of authority, you find who you can rely on. Why take grief from a belligerent whiner when you can reliably and seamlessly get the job done by selecting the same people you know, regardless of the stress or unhappiness it causes them, will uncomplainingly get the job done.

In church, we fall so short of our religion. There’s the power plays, the undermining, the badmouthing. There though, it’s expected the other cheek to be turned. The bad actors get a pass and the good guys get marginalized. This is of course an overstatement; just making the point. One would think we can escape the focus on the gnat, and support one another battling the giant in the room. Dare I say it? The Enemy. Our environment, planet, world, institutions and all the rest are the playground of Satan.

We have the gnat on entertainment (I’m guilty of overindulging too), the gnat of not communicating, of focusing on the buzz on no consequence.

The monster is breathing down our necks is roaring and we choose not to acknowledge it. What kind of men and women does this make us?

Dr. Benjamin Carson at National Prayer Breakfast: Truth Be Told In Front of Obama

This is a speech given by Dr. Benjamin Carson at the National Prayer Breakfast, with Obama in attendance. It was a remarkable speech, faith filled, and made more remarkable because Dr. Carson addressed political correctness (a Leftist tool suppressing free speech and Obama is a Leftist), education (we are at the bottom of nations), taxation (he advocates a flat tax using Scripture and Leftists advocate progressive taxation), the national debt (increased more in Obama's administration than all previous presidents combined) and privatized healthcare and health savings accounts (vs State controlled like ObamaCare). What he has to say is profound and true and well worth the 26 min.

DEBT!

Debt. None of us like it. We all do what we can to keep it down, keep it under control. If we're in debt, we don't borrow more money, thinking that's a good way to reduce it. We don't keep spending more and more money thinking this is a good way to get out of debt. This president and his political party think the opposite when it comes to our national debt. Our Dear Leader has increased the debt over a $trillion a year since taking office, and next year another $trillion will be added. Six!!!! $trillion!!!!! in about five years!!! That's an increase of 51%! They say we need to keep spending at that rate to make things better.

If that were the case on a personal level, I'd stop paying rent and buy a $500,000 house (in Nevada that a pretty big and luxurious house) and buy that Cadillac CTS, plus max out my credit cards.

At the beginning of the Democratic Convention a couple days ago, we passed $16 Trillion national debt. Each of us, according to the US Treasury, now owe $51,874. That amount was $17,454 when Obama took office.

This is an increase to $4,073,237,142 per day!

As a percentage of the GDP, it has risen from 40% to an estimated 73% by the end of this year. We've seen what happens when it gets that high. Greece, France, Spain, Ireland, Portugal. They are all collapsing. We are getting ever closer. This must must must must be reduced to 20%.

These numbers come from the Treasury Department and the Congressional Budget Office.

United States Budget Dilemma

This is related to my previous post  Democrat Non-Budgets and Other Failures about the failure of Congress and this Administration to pass a budget. Their answer is to raise the debt limit. Here's a vid that clearly explains the budget, how we cannot balance it, and the consequences of just letting things ride.

http://youtu.be/EW5IdwltaAc
If you're not scared to death by now, it may be time to reevaluate your economic beliefs and values. Our national debt is approaching $16 trillion. Another $1.2 trillion, if not more is about to be added. That's $50,000 for every man, woman and child in the US. Three generations, if not more, down the road are in debt. There's a running debt counter about a third down the right side of this blog.

Simple Explanation of Our Economic Problems

This is the most simple explanation of the dire straits our economy is in. It's a Left vs Conservative view of the problem and solutions without the yelling. Well worth 12min.

Of course the politicians won't fix the problem. Just look at the beating Paul Ryan takes for even marginal solutions to the problem.

Acceptable- Deceit, Debt, Decay

I think I may be entering into campaign mode already. Here’s where we are, and I’m wondering, if the shoe were on the other foot, would Leftists be acting so sanguine about our economic and political situation?

This Democrat President has presided over the doubling of the national debt, accumulating more in three years than all the previous presidents combined. If this were a Republican president, would this be acceptable?

This president has offered economic proposals doubling the debt in the next 10 years. If this was a Republican president, would this be acceptable?

This president sued a state (Arizona) about a law (SB1070) that he disagreed with. Neither he nor his Attorney General had ever read the law. If this were a Republican president, would this be acceptable?

This Democrat president joined a lawsuit with a foreign country (Mexico) to force them (Arizona) to allow illegal immigration into their state. If this were a Republican president, would it be acceptable?

This president and his wife have spent $millions on vacations. If this were a Republican president, would it be acceptable? (GW used to go to his ranch and do ranch work, and look at the grief he got.)

This president has hired lobbyists after railing against them, Wall Street investment millionaires after railing against them, tax cheats after railing against them. If a Republican president had shown anger and distain against groups of people, then hired them, would it be acceptable?

This president failed to respond to massive flooding in the Midwest. More people died and were left homeless than the aftermath of Katrina. If it were a Republican president, would this be acceptable? (Despite all the lies, the Bush administration did respond in the aftermath of Katrina, and it was the Gov and Mayor that blew it.)

This president has hired 32 people (czars) to run various agencies, created by him, that weren’t vetted nor are monitored by Congress, but answer to him and him only. If this were a Republican president, would it be acceptable?

Unemployment is at 8.2% and we’re told to accept it as the “new norm”. If this were a Republican president, would 8.2% of the population unable to find work be acceptable? (There was howling when we reached 5.2% under a Republican president.)

Democrats passed a bill, near midnight on Christmas Eve, carrying no votes from the opposition Party. Half the citizens of the country opposed it. The speaker of the house said they have to pass the bill to see what’s in it. If Republicans had done this, would it have been acceptable?

This president closed down offshore drilling illegally. He’s closing down the mining industry. He shut down the nuclear power industry. He shut down getting oil piped down from Canada. If a Republican president shut down whole industries, driving up the costs of energy to citizens, would it be acceptable?

This Democrat president sold guns to Mexican cartels (Operation Fast and Furious) that resulted in lots of dead Mexicans, robbery and rape, plus a US Agent murdered. If a Republican president had done this, would it have been acceptable?

This president spent $billions on green energy programs and companies, all donators to him and his political Party. If a Republican president had spent $billions on a specific industry that both went bankrupt and funneled those tax dollars back to his campaign coffers, would it have been acceptable?

If the credit rating of the United States had been downgraded for the first time in our history, and the president had been a Republican, would it have been so acceptable?

Corruption, lies, deceit, the destruction of the economy, $trillions of added debt, massive unemployment (actually closer to 17% than 10%) reduced credit rating, $740 billion stimulus for “shovel ready jobs” that mostly went to pay state union employees that pay the dues that go back to the Democrat Party, lavish White House parties and vacations, closing down vast sections of the energy industry that actually produces, and sending $billions to proven failed “green” industries that sent those tax payer dollars back to the Democrat Party.

This is a miserable record by any measure, but is acceptable to about half the citizens, the Democrat Party, Communists, Socialists, and Leftists of any stripe.

Things are bad.

The Hypocritical Tax Cheat Leftist Uber Wealthy

Even Trump has jumped on this bandwagon; the wealthy should pay more in taxes. The obvious question many had when Warren Buffett wrote his piece and went on the talking heads shows was if he truly believes that, why don't he and his wealthy buddies just pony up. Why wait for the congress critters to pass more tax legislation? Mostly because they could get their tax lawyers to find ways of not paying. Lip service. They don't really mean it.

A non-partisan think tank, the Tax Foundation (attacked by ex Enron adviser and socialist Paul Krugman, which to my mind lends them credibility) ran some numbers, and found that doing what the Leftist wealthy like Buffett say, would have little effect on our economic situation.

Buffett, a hugely successful Capitalist that bashes capitalism wrote:
“But for those making more than $1 million there were 236,883 such households in 2009 I would raise rates immediately on taxable income in excess of $1 million, including, of course, dividends and capital gains. And for those who make $10 million or more there were 8,274 in 2009 I would suggest an additional increase in rate.” “My friends and I have been coddled long enough by a billionaire-friendly Congress.”
I think they’ve been coddling themselves. If they truly believed this, they would not utilize the tax loopholes, written for them by their bought and paid for congress critters, and they would pony up on their own.

The study by the Tax Foundation found taxing millionaires and billionaires at 50% would reduce the deficit by 8 percent and the national debt by 1 percent. There have been times when the tax rate for these guys went as high as 90%, and we still had high debt and deficit. Taxing at 50% would only raise about $120 billion. Not much when looking at $trillions of debt generated in the past three years. Where that money go anyway? Are we any better off?

The study found that taxing the wealthy at 100% would only net $186 billion, reducing the deficit by 12 percent and the debt by 2 percent. A 14% total reduction, and we’d still be $trillions in debt. A 100% confiscation of the income of all making $200,000 and above for the year would net about $1.53 trillion; then what? They have no money to invest or run their businesses, and we’re still a couple $trillion in debt.

People like Buffett, Soros, Gates and the rest that advocate for this, fall into the Leftist hypocrite hall of shame with European entertainers that come to America and make $millions and bash our country and its socio-economic system from which they so hugely benefit.

To those entertainers we’ve said ‘shut up and sing’. To the lying Capitalist hypocrites advocating they be taxed more, we say, ‘shut up and pay’.

Flashback

http://youtu.be/ELcgS9gTKhU

Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the health summit: "It's about jobs. In it's life, it [the health bill] will create 4 million jobs -- 400,000 jobs almost immediately."

Unemployment today at 9.2%    If you a add underemployed and those no longer looking for work, it's about a 17% unemployment rate.

Joe Biden in April 2010: "All in all we're going to be creating somewhere between 100[,000] and 200,000 jobs next month, I predict," "Even some in the White House said, 'Hey, don't get ahead of yourself.' Well, I'm here to tell you, some time in the next couple of months, we're going to be creating between 250,000 jobs a month and 500,000 jobs a month."

9.2% and still waiting.

About raising the debt ceiling. Leftists all for it now. In 2004 it was a horrible thing.

ANDREA MITCHELL: But what is looking over his shoulder is history. He wants a legacy. He wants to be able to do something about Social Security. He knows he's got to do something about deficit reduction. That is the big embarrassment for Republicans. They ought to be ashamed of themselves, what the Hill Republicans have done. They've been worse than Democrats.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: They just increased the debt ceiling.
MITCHELL: Exactly.
Now the Republicans don't want to raise the debt limit, they're "terroists".

Santelli on a Roll Again

The Dems did not pass a budget for two years as required by law when they controlled both houses of congress and the White House. They have only mocked and lied about the Republican budget, saying it will starve old people, children will die, blah blah blah. Actual proposed spending cuts in the Republican budget here. Now Obama and the Dems are claiming it's crunch time, and it's the Republicans fault. Dems say Repubs have to compromise by increasing the debt ceiling and raising taxes. They said that if Repubs do that then they'll agree to spending cuts. They say that they have $trillions of spending cuts in their budget, but one, on paper, has yet to be produced by them. They promised Reagan that, saying they would give $3 spending cuts for every $1 tax increase. It was the opposite. They did it to Bush One and forced him to go back on 'no new taxes' which ended his presidency and brought down the Republicans. Compromise to the Dems and Jurassic Press means that the Republicans cave to the Dems. Let's hope the Republicans don't fall for that again. Charlie Brown has to quit trusting Lucy to hold the football.

STOP THE SPENDING!

What he says is the government should live within its means and reduce spending.

http://youtu.be/V1fA9-SryzY

What he's done and will continue doing. He's been absent most of the budget talks. After excoriating Congress last week for not working hard enough, he went to a fund raiser. Since taking office he's played 76 rounds of golf, taken 48 days of vacation, and held 149 fundraisers. Bush quit playing golf in 2003 saying,  "I don't want to some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander-in-chief playing golf... And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal." He was mocked at the time for being shallow. 'That's a sacrifice?' kind of response. Bush also spent time working at his working ranch and was mocked for that. Bush was a RINO, but at least he was engaged, and didn't say one thing and do another. Of course all this is still Bush's fault, two and a half years into the Obama regime.

After saying we need to cut spending etc., here's what we've got.

Our debt at this pace will soon exceed the value of all US assets and GDP.
