Democrat Non-Budgets and Other Failures

We’re coming to the annual budget battle in Congress, and the Establishment Leftists/Democrats will once again start their propaganda campaign of blaming the out of power Republicans for not providing a budget, or obstructing getting a budget passed, that they want to starve babies and old people, want to have dirty water and air (yes they actually state these as fact), create more homeless and deny medical care to everybody.

A budget is supposed to be completed by April 15, by law. The Senate Dems have not passed a budget since 2009. Obama’s 2013 budget proposal was rejected 414-0 by the House and 99-0 by the Senate. White House Spokesman, Jay “Bagdad Bob” Carney, in the opening salvo of lies about the budget and fiscal responsibility said, “It’s simply not acceptable to hold the American and global economy hostage to one party’s political ideology. It’s the responsibility of Congress to ensure that the United States of America pays its bills, maintains its creditworthiness.”

Republicans have offered four budget proposals, one of which passed the House and was rejected by the Democrat controlled Senate. But of course it’s the Republican’s fault. The failure of this administration and his political party to get the job done is being fuzzed up by the Democrat controlled Reelect Obama Press. Here’s a list of some other the failures by the Democrats and this Administration.

According to the Census Bureau, since Obama took office, real median household income is down $4300.

30% of the unemployed have been out of work for more than a year.

We are at nearly 40 months of unemployment at 8% plus. I remember Leftists screaming bloody murder when it bumped up to 5% under Bush, now it’s the “new normal” that we have to accept. That 8% doesn’t include people that have used up their benefits plus others that are no longer looking for work or are underemployed. With those we’re closer to 17% unemployed. I forget the exact breakdown, but of the past 11 or 12 months, the Administration has revised upward the unemployment stats from the previous month; with barely a mention in the Reelect Obama Press. If a company fudged their numbers like that, the would be civil and criminal charges brought.

The number of people on food stamps has increased 70% since 2007. Several Democrat "leaders" have said this is good for the economy. They've also said the unemployed spending their government checks helps the economy. Huh?

Home prices are the lowest they’ve been since 2002, foreclosures have skyrocketed, and home ownership has plummeted.

Just got your degree? About 50% of college grads are unemployed or have taken a lesser job than their degree would usually net them. Some of this has to be blamed on the ex-students that majored in things that don’t apply to the real world; gender studies, medieval lit, etc.

Gas was about $1.88 when Obama took office, now it’s up to about $3.89 a gallon. Note about myself, it cost me about $45 to fill my 13gal tank last week (actually put in 11.something). Obama and his Energy Sec Steven Chu have both said they want to drive energy costs up. I guess one could call that a success, at least for them and the Democrats.

Remember Obama during his campaign saying no new taxes would be raised on those making less the $250,000 a year? Two years into Obamacare, most of the $500 billion in taxes raised by the act have come from people making less than that. A small item, but remember the tax on tanning salons? Lot’s of little stuff like that is hidden in Obamacare, and there will be massive increases in 2013 if it’s fully implemented. As the first female ex-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said during the debate of it's passing, "We have to pass it to see what's in it." Well, we are now.

As of last February we had incurred the largest deficit in US history, about $30 billion. National debt now approaching $16 trillion! This president has increased that more during his administration more than all his predecessors combined. He’s added more debt in 38 months than Bush did in 8 years.

For this election, Obama, who rails constantly against the rich and especially Wall Street, has taken more money from them than all the Republican candidates combined. Beyond ironic, or something, that he rails against Romney and Republicans being in the pocket of Wall Street. They financed about 20% of his 2008 campaign, and they’ve already given more to him and the Democrat Party than to Romney and the Republicans this election cycle.

All this failure, and yet the Reelect Obama Press, Obama, and the Democrat Party will shamelessly continue to blame Bush and the Republican Party for them all, and in the next few weeks they'll threaten to shut down the government (again) because Republicans (again) will baulk at raising the debt ceiling without passing a budget. Citizens that are busy working and raising families and not paying attention to all this, will think it is so.

Acceptable- Deceit, Debt, Decay

I think I may be entering into campaign mode already. Here’s where we are, and I’m wondering, if the shoe were on the other foot, would Leftists be acting so sanguine about our economic and political situation?

This Democrat President has presided over the doubling of the national debt, accumulating more in three years than all the previous presidents combined. If this were a Republican president, would this be acceptable?

This president has offered economic proposals doubling the debt in the next 10 years. If this was a Republican president, would this be acceptable?

This president sued a state (Arizona) about a law (SB1070) that he disagreed with. Neither he nor his Attorney General had ever read the law. If this were a Republican president, would this be acceptable?

This Democrat president joined a lawsuit with a foreign country (Mexico) to force them (Arizona) to allow illegal immigration into their state. If this were a Republican president, would it be acceptable?

This president and his wife have spent $millions on vacations. If this were a Republican president, would it be acceptable? (GW used to go to his ranch and do ranch work, and look at the grief he got.)

This president has hired lobbyists after railing against them, Wall Street investment millionaires after railing against them, tax cheats after railing against them. If a Republican president had shown anger and distain against groups of people, then hired them, would it be acceptable?

This president failed to respond to massive flooding in the Midwest. More people died and were left homeless than the aftermath of Katrina. If it were a Republican president, would this be acceptable? (Despite all the lies, the Bush administration did respond in the aftermath of Katrina, and it was the Gov and Mayor that blew it.)

This president has hired 32 people (czars) to run various agencies, created by him, that weren’t vetted nor are monitored by Congress, but answer to him and him only. If this were a Republican president, would it be acceptable?

Unemployment is at 8.2% and we’re told to accept it as the “new norm”. If this were a Republican president, would 8.2% of the population unable to find work be acceptable? (There was howling when we reached 5.2% under a Republican president.)

Democrats passed a bill, near midnight on Christmas Eve, carrying no votes from the opposition Party. Half the citizens of the country opposed it. The speaker of the house said they have to pass the bill to see what’s in it. If Republicans had done this, would it have been acceptable?

This president closed down offshore drilling illegally. He’s closing down the mining industry. He shut down the nuclear power industry. He shut down getting oil piped down from Canada. If a Republican president shut down whole industries, driving up the costs of energy to citizens, would it be acceptable?

This Democrat president sold guns to Mexican cartels (Operation Fast and Furious) that resulted in lots of dead Mexicans, robbery and rape, plus a US Agent murdered. If a Republican president had done this, would it have been acceptable?

This president spent $billions on green energy programs and companies, all donators to him and his political Party. If a Republican president had spent $billions on a specific industry that both went bankrupt and funneled those tax dollars back to his campaign coffers, would it have been acceptable?

If the credit rating of the United States had been downgraded for the first time in our history, and the president had been a Republican, would it have been so acceptable?

Corruption, lies, deceit, the destruction of the economy, $trillions of added debt, massive unemployment (actually closer to 17% than 10%) reduced credit rating, $740 billion stimulus for “shovel ready jobs” that mostly went to pay state union employees that pay the dues that go back to the Democrat Party, lavish White House parties and vacations, closing down vast sections of the energy industry that actually produces, and sending $billions to proven failed “green” industries that sent those tax payer dollars back to the Democrat Party.

This is a miserable record by any measure, but is acceptable to about half the citizens, the Democrat Party, Communists, Socialists, and Leftists of any stripe.

Things are bad.

This Ain't No Budget, It's a Tax Bill

Because the Democrats and Obama could not stop the Bush tax cuts from being extended, Obama has created this work around. This is his 10 year plan. Most Statist Plans are 5 years, so this is pretty ambitious. This will be a $1.5 trillion tax hike over the next ten years. That’s taking one and a half $trillion out of the pockets of the citizens, money we need to pay for housing, food, child rearing, and transportation to name just a few things.

Of course military spending will be cut by about $78 billion, one of the things the Constitution says the government is required to do; protect the borders and citizens, which this president has shown no inclination to do. We do know Leftists despise the military (they have guns and vote Republican).

There’s no cuts to any entitlement spending, and an increase in several.

What Republicans need to be saying over and over again is what the Dems say every time a Republican president submits a budget, it’s “dead on arrival”.

This is immoral, that we are spending and borrowing $trillions at least two, maybe three generations into the future, saddling the unborn with massive economic problems they didn’t have a say in creating.

Obama and the Dems have cut revenue to the federal government by their effectively shutting down production of the oil and coal industries. By not being able to produce, there’s no income to tax. This is a huge revenue loss.

Reduced revenue from that, plus reduced revenue because fewer people are working so they aren’t paying taxes, plus about 47% of the population not paying taxes in the first place, and lots of other stuff too numerous to mention in a short post (plus its being mind numbingly boring except for us political and economic wonks), here’s some of the ways he’s going to get blood from the turnip.

Obama proposed budget:

Raises the top marginal income tax rate (big hit on small business profits) from 35% to 39.6%.

Raises the capital gains and dividends rate from 15% to 20%.

Raises the death tax rate from 35% to 45% and lowering the death tax exemption amount from $5 million ($10 million for couples) to $3.5 million.

Caps the value of itemized deductions at the 28% bracket rate.  This cuts tax deductions for mortgage interest, charitable contributions, property taxes, state and local income or sales taxes, out-of-pocket medical expenses, and unreimbursed employee business expenses.

Creates new bank taxes.

Creates new international corporate tax hikes.

Creates new life insurance company taxes.

Creates new taxes on energy

Increases unemployment payroll taxes. (This is on the 53% paying taxes so the 47% can continue to live off the fruits of our labor). My view is that everybody should have some skin in the game.

Taxing management capital gains in an investment partnership (“carried interest”) as ordinary income.

Companies could no longer deduct the cost of punitive damages from a lawsuit settlement. (Trial lawyers, one of the largest contributors to the Democrat Party after Unions, love this.)

Increasing tax penalties, information reporting, and IRS information sharing.

Plus there’s a whole bunch of hidden taxes in ObamaCare that we must must must repeal.

House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.):
“The president punted on the budget and he punted on the deficit and on the debt.” “This doesn’t even include any of the president’s fiscal commission’s recommendations [and] it doesn’t address the drivers of our debt.” (The Budget Commission formed by Obama spent $millions to come up with reports and recommendations. Obama didn’t use one of them.)
“I really thought that we would see an advancement, that we would see a step in the right direction.” “Instead we saw a step farther to the left than if we did nothing at all.”
