This is Memorial Day, a day of remembrance. The word
memorial comes from the Latin, Memorare. I remember. I lost comrades in arms in
firefights. A close friend was shot down in his helicopter. But for the grace
of God. As I get older, and the events grow distant, I find myself getting more
emotional about this day.
I appreciate beyond measure the well wishes and prayers, the
loved ones and friends reaching out and thanking me for my service. I send
those on to the ones we have lost.
In memoriam to the fallen.

To fallen soldiers let us sing,
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing,
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord
Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing,
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the Mansions of the Lord
No more weeping,
No more fight,
No prayers pleading through the night,
Just Divine embrace,
Eternal light,
In the Mansions of the Lord
No more fight,
No prayers pleading through the night,
Just Divine embrace,
Eternal light,
In the Mansions of the Lord
Where no mothers cry
And no children weep,
We shall stand and guard
Though the angels sleep,
Oh, through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord
And no children weep,
We shall stand and guard
Though the angels sleep,
Oh, through the ages safely keep
The Mansions of the Lord
Amen
