Something for Nothing

Nearly half the population of the US doesn't pay taxes, actually 47%. About 73% of taxes are paid by the top 10%; that's an income of about $366,400. Some think that may be a fair and correct thing to happen. Some think the government should be able to cap people's incomes, and earnings beyond that should go to the government. If the more I make means I get to keep less of it, what's the incentive to be more productive and generate more wealth? Why should a small businessman grow his business after he's stable and comfortable?

If you're in the bottom 40% of income earners, with all the deductions and stuff, you many even get money from the government, even though you paid nothing in. Some think this is okay too.

If you have a kid under 17 and make about $50,000 for a family of four, you may not have to pay any taxes.

Do people appreciate more those things they have to pay for, or things that are given to them? Nearly half the citizens of this country get's access to and uses the material, goods and services of this country and have payed nothing for it. Roads, bridges, education, police and military, fire departments, etc.

Seems to me, no matter what your income level, you should pay a percentage of your income for these services.
