Shameless Westboro Church, Bikers, and the Supreme Court

I’ve written often about the reprehensible Westboro Baptist Church, neither Christian nor Baptist, the knuckleheads that gather outside cemeteries and cheer the death of American soldiers, and gathered outside Ronnie Dio’s funeral cheering his death.

They do this claiming free speech rights. I hadn’t heard this story, but at the funeral of Lt. Brendan Looney, a Navy SEAL, an organization of bikers, the Patriot Guard Riders, were also there. Whenever the Westboro hate group started their chants, the Riders revved their bikes and drowned them out. A member of the group, Dylan Waite: "There's very few things on Earth louder than a V-Twin Harley Davidson." The bikers had huge American flags and lined the entry road to the cemetery, in front of the Westboro group, and saluted as the procession of Lt. Looney passed by.

While American flags were flying and motorcycles revving, the Westboro group chanted and had signs: "Thank God for IEDs", "Thank God for dead soldiers”, and "God hates fags".

The whole mess is being heard before the Supreme Court. The Westboro group claiming free speech rights is, of course, being supported by the ACLU. The question is, do the Westboro knuckleheads have a right to protest at funerals the way they do? The suit is being brought by the dead soldier’s father; him saying this was an invasion of privacy.

An ugly mess created by ugly people. If there were such a thing as shame left in this culture, Westboro would not have even considered doing this vile deed.

The Westboro anti-Church, Ozzy Osbourne, Ronnie James Dio

The Westboro Baptist Church, which is neither Christian nor Baptist, is a bottomless cesspool of hate, so I’m not going to link them. These are the knuckleheads that stand out outside military funerals celebrating American soldiers getting killed. They’re also Jew haters. A vile bunch if there ever was one.

They also protested at the funeral of Ronnie James Dio because he’s a ‘Satan worshipper’. I knew Ronnie, and he wasn’t. Truth doesn’t matter to these low life bottom sucking scumbags.

Now it turns out they’re using Ozzie Osbourne’s music to express their hatred of all things Christian, military,  gays, Catholics, Jews, Muslims and anything American. The specific song they’re using is Ozzy’s “Crazy Train”, changing the lyrics to "You're going straight to hell on your crazy train" on the steps of the Supreme Court in Washington, DC.

I hope Ozzy sues them back into the Stone Age.

Ozzy: "I am sickened and disgusted by the use of 'Crazy Train' to promote messages of hate and evil by a 'church.'" Ozzy said about their protests at Dio’s funeral: "I thought it was in such bad taste that those people had those banners about Ronnie James Dio. That's disgusting. They say that we're the anti-Christ. Well, what makes them any better?"

We agree with Ozzy. Not only are they not any better, but one could make a case they are in fact the ones doing the bidding of Satan.

An UnChristian Christian and His Church

A knucklehead Christian Pastor, Terry Jones, and a knucklehead CNN anchor, Rick Sanchez, had this exchange about Jones's having a "Burn the Koran" day.

Two things here. The Secularists like to trot out these people to discredit Christians; or given Sanchez's 'follower of the prince of peace' self qualification, Christians that don't have a Liberal world view like his. The other thing is this Terry Jones guy is just wrong, and it hurts the Christian Community.

Since the embarrassing Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell and others like them are not front and center in the Secularist media, they have no one to hold up to prove their incorrect, intolerant, bigoted view of Christians.

Where did CNN dig this Terry Jones guy up? I spend a lot of time reviewing stories on religion, specifically Christianity, and I've never heard of him or his church, "Dove World Outreach Center". Here's the first paragraph of their mission statement:
Our purpose and our goal here at Dove World Outreach Center is to get people to stand up. We, as the church, need to stand up for righteousness and for the truth of the Bible. That truth is not only love, healing and prosperity, but it is also about getting up. It is not about being entertained on Sunday morning, but about being equipped to do the work of the service: motivating, equipping to get up, organize, and show the world that there is a true and living church.

It's a small Florida organization, and from what I can tell it's about protests and intolerance. Big anti-homosexual stuff. Not too much Christian on their site. This group is going down the hateful path of Westboro Baptist, that does much of the same thing. Big on the homosexual stuff. They're the ones that protest outside military funerals to and have hateful anti-American, anti military signs and slogans. Lots of hate there.

Not a word here about Christ's Love, His Sacrifice, salvation, worship, fellowship, or service. Those are pretty much the foundation of any church, or should be.

Compare to the statement of purpose of my church, First Christian Church Las Vegas:
The purpose of this congregation shall be to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in the New Testament, to invite and welcome people to faith in Jesus Christ, to encourage their active commitment, to help them grow in the grace and
knowledge of Christ so that they may increasingly know and do His will, and to work for the unity of all Christians and with them engage in the common task of building the Kingdom of God.

You won't see any pastor of a church like ours on CNN or Rick Sanchez's show, or any other major Jurassic News outlet. The least damaging pastor you'll see is Joel Osteen, but you don't see him on secular new shows talking about Christ and salvation and service. He preaches 'prosperity Christianity', about how God wants you to be successful and financially secure. He's a motivational speaker using Christianity in a marginal way as his foundation. Olsteen at least does little damage to the Christian community; maybe he even obliquely helps because through him some might actually get introduced to what Christianity is really about.

Christians must be quick to denounce guys like this. I have my little blog here, but there needs to be a big media Christian voice out there to follow up when the Jurassic Press trots these guys like Terry Jones and Westboro Baptist to insult and embarrass Christians. You'll never see them bring someone on when Christians are insulted to defend the Faith. Regarding the coverage of Christians in the Jurassic Press, it's a one way street called bigotry with the crossroad of intolerance.

Not Christian, Not American

I have no words of understanding or tolerance of these low life bottom sucking scumbags of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka Kansas. These are the knuckleheads that stand outside of a military cemetery and have signs displayed for the friends and family of soldiers killed in action to see while going to bury their dead.

They say, among other things, "Thank God for dead soldiers", "America is Doomed", "God Hates the USA", "Thank God for 9/11", "Priests Rape Boys", and "Thank God for IEDs". They do this despicable thing because they say America is tolerant of homosexuality, and object, they say, to the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy.

Now comes along the courts, alleged dispensers of justice, causing the father of a dead Marine, that just wanted to bury his son that was killed in Iraq, even more grief. The father was so offended that he filed suit against the alleged Christian church. Fred Phelps is the leader of this hate cult, and he has somehow been able to turn the tables on this poor father, possibly causing him financial ruin.

The father, Albert Snyder, was awarded by a Baltimore jury damages for emotional distress and invasion of privacy. That was overturned by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals because as vile as the signs are, they are protected free speech. Okay, we can accept that. The 4th went beyond that and has ordered Snyder, the father, to pay the anti-Christian cultist Phelps $16,510.

Snyder not only doesn't have the money, but is struggling to come up with fees to file with the Supreme Court. He said he didn't have any intention of paying the Westboro Baptist Church until after the case is heard before the Supreme Court. Hopefully some law firm that believes in justice will help Mr. Snyder out.

The same U S court system that revels in releasing serial pedophiles, not only reverses the decision, but out of thin air, for no known reason (no details of how the court reached its decision are available), visits financial destruction on the father of a man killed in action. How did that get so turned upside down? My blood is so boiling about this...

The Baptist hierarchy must censure this church, and if Phelps is indeed a Baptist minister, should remove him from the ministry. There is nothing Christian, no Love or tolerance, or care being shown here. If the Baptist's don't sanction this poor excuse for a man, and rip the name "Baptist" from that vile church, then shame shame shame on them.
