Do You Know Your Doctor's Religious Beliefs?




It may be, according to a study recently published in the Journal of Medical Ethics, that if you are terminally ill, the religious beliefs of your doctor influences whether your care may cause your life to be shortened or prolonged.

According to the study, doctors without religious convictions, or are atheists, are twice as likely as religious doctors to make decisions that will shorten the life of their patient. 

Barts and the London school of medicine and dentistry, Professor Clive Seale: "If I were a patient facing end of life care, I would want to know what my doctor's views were on religious matters – whether they are non-religious or religious and whether the doctor felt that would influence them in the kinds of decisions they were looking at." 

Science isn't so neutral, and neither are doctors when making decisions.
