On 9/11 the Towers fell on a Christian Church and crushed it. The picture is a couple minutes before the tower fell on it. Neither the church nor the replacement for the Towers has been completed; in fact, building hasn’t even begun. What is on the fast track is a 13 to 15 story mosque a few hundred feet from ground zero.
Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, Archbishop Demetrios, said about a month after Islamic Terrorists launched the worst attack on US soil, that St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church would be rebuilt on the same ground.
It’s was a small structure, four stories, and its rebuilding is being stopped by The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; for whatever reasons St. Nicholas can’t be rebuilt on its original site. A new site about a block away has been agreed to, but still the Port Authority is blocking it. The reason given is because of a security wall that has to go up, or be designed, or agreed to, or some such thing. After more than a decade? Are you kidding? Is there a better example of government incompetence? Well, yeah, but we need to stay on this story.
The church wants to build one block to the northeast of its original site. It’s a bigger site, so the church wants to build a bigger church and add a dome. That’ll make it six times as large as the original. Of course the Port Authority has problems with that.
Executive director of the Port Authority, Chris Ward: “We understand the church’s mission. It is part of the history of the site and we want to maintain that. We just need to put the project in the right context.” Right context? It’s a church where Christians go to worship. What context? These people don’t have a place of worship, and the knuckleheads at the Port Authority have no clue.
The original church was built in 1919, converting a tavern into a church. It’s been moved several times over the years, and this latest structure would be 24,000 sqiare feet with a dome. The Port Authority though is telling them to build a smaller building. Meanwhile, down the street and a few blocks away, it’s okay to build a huge mosque several stories high and several acres large. Plus there will be the call to prayer five times a day blaring across the city.
Can’t replace the Trade Center. Can’t allow a Christian church to be built. Enthusiastically promotes a mosque that is a tribute to Islam conquering America. Of course Leftists approve of this. Trade Center is a symbol of Capitalism. Church of course is Christian. Mosque is the symbol of fascism.
