The pic here is a cake! Yesterday had a most fabulous time
with friends in Salt Lake City. There was a house warming party; Dick had
bought a house and had it remodeled. A lovely new crib. Amazing Greek food, and a lot. At least thirty
people there. A full spread, lots of laughter, good conversations. They’re an
Italian family, so the desert was Italian. A great combination.
Some things happened over the past few days, which I’ll be
writing about in more depth. Main things were two funerals, Aretha Franklin and
John McCain. Aretha went through some horrible things in her life. It looks
like memorial turned into a political rally against whites, Republicans and
lots of Trump bashing. What the hell? Focus not on her. That’s what Leftists/Democrats have been
doing of decades at memorials. They've corrupted everything with their politics. Sports, religion, movies, journalism, and of course funerals. I’ll chronical that sordid history. Then John McCain’s
memorial was the same, though mostly it was Trump bashing. I’ll be speaking ill of the
dead. He did some amazing and good things, and led a good life. What he did his
last few years was destructive to the country and his legacy. Even to the end, to his funeral and memorials he blocked people from attending. Never heard of
anyone doing that; they wanted to pay their respects and honor him.
Well, I’ve done some yardwork this morning, now need to
assemble some furniture.
You know a Republican presidential candidate is a RINO when the Jurassic Press says the guy is great, just what the Republican Party needs. Jon Huntsman is an accommodationist to the Left, like McCain, Lugar, the Bush's, and all the rest. Huntsman announced at the Statue of Liberty where Reagan did, and invoked Reagan several times. Problem is, Reagan was a conservative. Huntsman is a Liberal.
His strategy going into the primaries is not to appeal to the base of the Republican Party, but to independents and disaffected Dems. That strategy alone speaks volumes. As Mark Levin's analysis below shows, Huntsman even uses the same words as McCain, talking about civility, respect of the opposition, getting along, taking the high road. Really? That got McCain and the Republican Party where?
Just before Huntsman announced, his campaign manager, John Weaver, said, "There's a simple reason our party is nowhere near being a national governing party."“No one wants to be around a bunch of cranks.” He was referring to conservative Republican candidates. Starting off bashing fellow Republicans. Weaver by the way is a former McCain "strategist". Looser. Weaver has mocked Pawlenty and Romney. Not by policy statements, but personally. Looser. About Pawlenty he said, "Tim's a nice guy, and there's nothing worse than seeing a nice guy pretend that he's angry. Is that really what we want to be? Is that how we're going to define ourselves? When's the last time an angry man ever solved a problem without using a gun?" Really?
He's said nothing nearly as harsh as this about his friend Obama. Weaaver again: "The frustrating thing is that Obama's beatable." "But to beat Obama you have to be bigger than Obama. That's how we save our party." Being a RINO, McCain II, is going to beat Obama? What's are they going to save the Party from? Conservatives? Huntsman was booed at a TEA Party event in Utah. That speaks volumes about this guy too.
Huntsman wrote to Obama in an Aug. 16, 2009 note: “You are a remarkable leader,” (underlining the word “remarkable,”) “and it has been a great honor getting to know you.”
Huntsman supported Obama's "stimulus" packages. He supported the "DREAM act", the "comprehensive" Democrat program to make illegal aliens (undocumented Democrats) legal. He's was for SCHIP which was supposed to be healthcare for kids but turned out to be a massive healthcare bill for adults too (a Dem program that McCain was for too). He supports the global warming crowed and the legislation that grows from that.
The danger here is his strategy going into the primaries is the same as McCain. By the time the primaries moved into "flyover country", RINO McCain was locked in. Many of those states have open voting, you don't have to belong to the party of the candidate to vote for him. Dems and other Statists crossed over and voted McCain, knowing he couldn't win. Huntsman must be stopped at the starting gate.
There's a bill being considered by the Senate (not yet presented to the floor), proposed by Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), to rename the Department of the Navy to the Department of the Navy and Marine Corps.
The leadership of the Armed Services Committee have come out against it, and there are 79 Senators for it. Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.), the original sponsor in the House, reports he has 425 co-sponsors. Seems overwhelmingly in favor of the name change.
Against the bill is Senate Armed Services Committee chairman Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). Jim Webb (D-Va.), former Marine and Navy secretary is also against it. There's all kinds of political infighting that Levin, McCain and Webb can do to block it's getting to the floor, or give it a poison pill. Amazing how a few can subvert legislation, not base on the merit of a bill, but on how and where it's placed in some other bill. Good grief.
The argument for the change is that it would honor the Marines by naming them in the title of the department. The argument against is tradition and costs. Moo poo. These guys waste $trillions and they're balking about $500,000 over several years? If it weren't government it could probably be done for a very few $thousand. Good grief.
I'm for honoring the Marines. Same departmental structure, same mission. Change the name.
Two things are happening in Arizona, one good and one not so much.
The good is that talk show host and former congressman J.D. Hayworth is challenging RINO (Republican in Name Only) and Statist John McCain for the people's Arizona Senate seat. McCain is already running ads against Hayworth, who has not yet officially announced. Remember McCain of McCain/Feingold that limited free speech and was just overturned by the Supreme Court, McCain/Kennedy immigration amnesty (undocumented workers are really undocumented Democrat voters), and initially wanted Statist Joe Lieberman as his VP running mate. On all matters other than Defense, McCain supports Statist policies.
The bad is that Sarah Palin, for some odd reason, has announced she'll campaign for McCain. After McCain's staff trashed her, insulted her, lied about her; and he said nothing in her defense, or told his guys to knock it off, she's going to do this? Plus, she's made it clear she's not a Statist, so what's the deal? This is a huge political miscalculation on her part, and her political instincts up to this point have been flawless. Hopefully she's seeing something the rest of the Conservative movement isn't.
This vid is in tribute to Moderate Republicans aka RHINO's. Every time one of these knuckleheads rise in position in the Republican Party, we loose. Well, ya know what, the only thing in the middle of the road are dead skunks and other road kill. Nixon, on top of all his nefarious deeds, brought us the Dept of Ed and the Environmental Protection agency, and lost his office. RINO Arnold Schwarzenegger kept caving to the Dems and CA is now in deeper debt with more problems than when he replaced Gray Davis. Bush the First reneged on taxes, ran up deficits and lost the presidency. Colin Powell, a highly praised RINO once considered by 'establishment' RHINO's to be presidential material, voted for the Statist Obama. Michael Bloomberg of New York was a Dem that changed party's to ride in on Moderate Rudy Giuliani's coat tails. Then there's Shamisty Lindsey Graham that's supports illegal immigration and crap 'n tax. Let's not forget G W Bush that signed the first stimulus, with as much if not more entitlement programs and increased social spending as LBJ. And finally, drum roll, the biggest RINO of all, John McCain, the perfect moderate, loved especially by Dems, that led the Republicans to about the biggest ass whoopin' ever a year ago. Let's add a line to this song, dead RINO in the middle of the road.
