This is the 100th! year of the Boy Scouts of America. This is a pretty big deal. But like laying the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns on Memorial Day, Obama has to go play rather than be Presidential.
He could have spoken at the Boy Scouts Jamboree in Virgina today, and praise an organization that has played an important part in providing values that make good human beings and men, and guidance in becoming good citizens. What he has opted to do instead is to go on "The View", where Leftist women gang up on one Conservative woman. This to him is more important than acknowledging the tradition and success of the Boy Scouts.
The White House said it was a scheduling issue. ummmmm, the day of 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts has been known for a hundred years. When did the White House schedule "The View"? It couldn't have been scheduled last week or next week? And what's the President of the United States, the most powerful political office in the world (at least until he started diminishing it) doing on a second rate gabfest? Then again, the White House said it wasn't "The View" that interfered with his stopping by and talking to Boy Scouts, it was a fundraiser. At least he's consistent. He went to a fundraiser in California when he could have attended memorial services for the men killed in the Gulf oil rig explosion.
Popularity move? The Boy Scouts currently have about 2.8 million members. “The View” hit a 14-week high in Women 18-34 (0.8 rating/282,000) and a 9-week high in Women 18-49 (1.2 rating/818,000) – since the weeks of 4/5/10 and 5/10/10, respectively. TV by the Numbers. At their highest 818,000 thousand women vs a couple million members of the Boy Scouts. That's a couple million with families of several people connected.
Barbara Walters inflating her ego: "This shows that both the president and first lady feel that our show is an influential and important source of information and news." Sorry Barbara, your show is not important or influential. It's a second class gab fest of some liberal women pretending they know what they're talking about.
Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country;
To obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.
Scout Motto
Be Prepared
Scout Slogan
Do a good turn daily
Our president does not have any of these values, and could not live up to them if he did.
He can, like the Liberal women on "The View", talk a lot about stuff he doesn't know anything about.
Birds of a feather.
