Gwendolyne Moore, Wisconsin Democrat: "The National Institute of Health has said that it is a danger to women's health and safety of their families, that for 30 years, to be exposed to the prospects of pregnancy." Pregnancy is a health and safety issue that women are exposed to? It's a prospect of something unhealthy, or something. What?

The government mandating what products and services citizens should buy. In the case of the Catholic Church, it's been suggested that going forward they needn't hire employees that don't have the same values and belief system as the Church. How many law suits would that generate, denying employment based on ideology?

If a government controls healthcare, it controls every aspect of every citizen's life. Every citizen will have to obey the State to get health care. Guns are unhealthy. Ban them. Religion endangers the health of women. Suppress it. Leftists/Democrats have done very well suppressing free speech with political correctness, to the point now, if you call a black man "Juan" without the correct inflection you're a racist. Traditional press has given up it's freedom; it willing and with joy does the bidding of the State. Pretty much us in the blogosphere are what's left of the free press, and the State is doing everything it can to get control of that.

This is the first time since we began this process of picking a presidential candidate for the Republican Party, that I was impressed by Santorum. He talks about founding principles, conservative principles; it would be good to have someone in the White House that could re-teach and advocate for those.

“Are we going to believe, as our Founders did, that our rights don’t come from the government, that they come from a much higher authority?”… “There are those in the Oval Office who believe that’s not the case, that rights do, in fact, come from the government, and they have gone around convincing the American people that they can give you rights. When government gives you rights, they can coerce you in doing things in exercising the rights that they gave you.”

"Hidden" Mortgage Fee Paying for Payroll Tax Cut

Here's a tax that will be imposed for the next 10 years on most mortgages and refinancings and it lasts for the life of the loan. For every $200,000, it amounts to an extra $15 dollars a month. That 2% payroll tax the gov gave everybody last Dec. This is how they'll pay for it and them some, to the tune of an extra $35.7 billion to the general treasury. Bet you didn't hear this one. Gov offers a few dollars back out of paycheck, takes $billions back. Good deal for them, and no one knows, until now. Thanks to CBS for actually doing some reporting for a change.

For every $200,000, it amounts to an extra $15 dollars a month.

Yet More Attacks on Christianity by Our Secularist, Bigoted President & His Party

This President and his political party have made it abundantly clear they are Secularists, and specifically anti-Christian. Here’s a few items to make the point.

I had written earlier that I’m disgusted by the use of Our Savior Jesus Christ being used as a political pawn. The anti-Christian bigot Obama did just that when he attended a prayer breakfast and used the time meant for communing with God to make a Marxist campaign speech, saying Jesus' admonition to help the poor means the government must raise taxes, especially on the rich.

Obama: “When I talk about shared responsibility, it’s because I genuinely believe that in a time when many folks are struggling and at a time when we have enormous deficits, it’s hard for me to ask seniors on a fixed income or young people with student loans or middle-class families who can barely pay the bills to shoulder the burden alone.” … “And I think to myself, if I’m willing to give something up as somebody who’s been extraordinarily blessed and give up some of the tax breaks that I enjoy, I actually think that’s going to make economic sense.”

“But for me as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’ teaching that, ‘for unto whom much is given, much shall be required.’”

He added this even more appalling observation: “…mirrors the Islamic belief that those who’ve been blessed have an obligation to use those blessings to help others, or the Jewish doctrine of moderation and consideration for others.” Since Christianity came first, and Islam imperfectly picked and chose what it wanted and needed to oppress people, I don’t think so.

The quote, “Unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required,” does not mean from each according to his ability and to each according to his needs. Obama sees everything through Marxist lenses. It’s his religion.

Part of that religion is to ignore the establishment clause of the Constitution (and the rest of the Constitution too, but I need to stay on point), “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion” and the free exercise clause, "... or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". The latest kerfuffle is his forcing the Catholic Church to adhere to his secular religion, which advocates the killing of babies, i.e., abortion, over the life of babies. Add to that forcing, against the teaching/values/beliefs of the Church requiring them to provide contraception. This Administration ruling forcing the church to provide abortions, sterilizations, and contraceptives as part of their health care programs is a requirement from Health and Human Services Department, not even legislation. They can get away with it because, contrary to what was said to the public by Obama and the Democrats, mandating abortion is in ObamaCare. This doesn’t only apply to the Catholic Church, but to all religious organizations; if the Catholic Church and other organizations stick to their guns on this, many religious funded hospitals, health facilities and companies will be forced to shut down. The Obama administration isn’t entirely insensitive to this issue; all the affiliated organizations have a year before being forced to comply or shut down.

Archbishop Timothy Nolan has published a letter to the president in protest, and there are several with some variations from many Bishops in America. A copy of one is at the bottom of this article.

He's also forbidden Chaplin's in the military to comment on this abuse of power, this ignoring of the Constitution, this forcing of Religion, specifically Christianity, to ignore and reject the teachings of their respective churches. He is Commander in Chief and has the legal right to do so, but not the moral right.

Recently struck down by the Supreme Court, and not reported or under reported by the re-elect Obama press, was a ruling requiring Churches to adhere to equal opportunity legislation. This requires the Catholic Church to allow female priests, and Jews female rabbis. You may color me wrong on this, but aren’t elected officials sworn to uphold the Constitution? If I’m right, the Secularists in power that took that oath are definitely ignoring both the establishment clause and free exercise clause.

Off on a tangent here; the first female ex-Speaker of the House, a professed Catholic, stated about the issue: “First of all, I am going to stick with my fellow Catholics in supporting the administration on this. I think it was a very courageous decision that they made, and I support it.” Say what? She’s one of many Catholic politicians that are pro-abortion and contraception ignoring the teachings of the Church she professes to be a member of. For most of us practicing Christians, God comes first, and informs our beliefs and actions. If one is a politician, and speaks honestly about his\her Faith, they should let it be known and live by it. I think if a Catholic runs for office on a pro-abortion platform, or lives and legislates in opposition to the Church, they should renounce the Church. If not, and I’m not Catholic, so I don’t know how exactly this works, but if they stay in the Church and support the kinds of regulation written about here, they should be excommunicated. It shouldn’t bother these anti-Christian, anti-Catholic Catholics anyway since they apparently don’t believe or practice Church doctrine.

There’s a whole section of the Bible discussing Spiritual Warfare, mostly in Ephesians 6: 10- 18. This is where it manifests itself in physical world. We have the leader of the free world leading an assault on Christianity (and supporting Islam). Good for the Catholic Church for standing up to these bigots and secularists.

Did you know that the violent "Occupy" movement, supported by President Obama, the first female ex-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry "Dusty" Reid, all Democrats (not to put too fine a point on it) support this? The Democrat Party is still saying it's the TEA Party that is violent and the "Occupy" people are peaceful...even after hundreds arrested, rapes, murders and clashes with police. Police said the group started assembling at a downtown plaza Saturday morning, with demonstrators threatening to take over the vacant Henry Kaiser Convention Center. The group then marched through the streets, disrupting traffic.
The crowd grew as the day wore on, with afternoon estimates ranging from about 1,000 to 2,000 people.
The protesters walked to the vacant convention center, where some started tearing down perimeter fencing and “destroying construction equipment,” the release said.
Police said they issued a dispersal order and used smoke and tear gas after some protesters pelted them with bottles, rocks, burning flares and other objects.

What Obama Likes About the Military

What Obama likes about the military isn’t the it protects freedom, helps people in dire straits, but that it’s so damn organized and everybody just submits.

In his opening campaign speech given as the State of the Union Address a couple days ago, paring away the Marxist rhetoric was praise of the military, he said.

“At a time when too many of our institutions have let us down, they exceed all expectations. They’re not consumed with personal ambition. They don’t obsess over their differences. They focus on the mission at hand. They work together. Imagine what we could accomplish if we followed their example. Think about the America within our reach.”

Our Dear Leader would like us all to follow him, like soldiers follow their sergeant, lieutenant or captain. This fits in with what he said to the racist group La Raza (that has changed its name to sound less racist), a group advocating the violent overthrow of the

government. Back in 2011, addressing the Congressional Hispanic Caucus:

"As I mentioned when I was at La Raza a few weeks back, I wish I had a magic wand and could make this all happen on my own," "There are times where -- until Nancy Pelosi is speaker again -- I'd like to work my way around Congress."

"We live in a democracy, and at the end of the day, I can't do this all by myself under our democratic system." At a July 2011 speech he told the Racist organization La Raza: "Some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws on my own" and that he found the idea very tempting. Really.

That brings us back to his praise of the military and his mistaken notion that like them, we should give up our freedoms and submit. The true meaning and application of submission here. Obama with this statement reveals his desire for us all to be like military units, and submit to the commands of the State, and most especially to him, Our Dear Leader.

Back to his campaign speech before Congress, and his view that we should be more like the military, taking yet more credit for the killing of Bin Laden: “All that mattered that day was the mission. No one thought about politics. No one thought about themselves.” This is how he wants us citizens to behave. He continued saying the mission “only succeeded . . . because every single member of that unit did their job. . . . More than that, the mission only succeeded because every member of that unit trusted each other — because you can’t charge up those stairs, into darkness and danger, unless you know that there’s somebody behind you, watching your back. So it is with America.” No, it is not so with America. We became great and exceptional because we are messy and unruly. More: “This nation is great because we worked as a team. This nation is great because we get each other’s backs.”

Obama has said in several speeches and interviews that he will work around Congress, and he has.

About 950,000 citizens have quit looking for jobs so they don't show up in the unemployment stats. As a result more people are getting food stamps. When Obama was elected the unemployment rate 6.8%. It’s now 8.6%. Add those 950,000 in and it's about 11.5% unemployed. Three years into his presidency, Obama still blames Bush. Now he's telling, shamelessly, a bald faced lie:

“First of all, I don’t put people on food stamps. People become eligible for food stamps. Second of all, the initial expansion of food-stamp eligibility happened under my Republican predecessor, not under me. Number three, when you have a disastrous economic crash that results in 8 million people losing their jobs, more people are going to need more support from government.”

A Republican in the Executive Branch with the record laid out below would be driven out of office without hesitation. Bush 1 was driven out of office after one term, and overall didn’t do so bad a job. Bush 2 was excoriated in the media daily. He had, I think, 54 consecutive months of economic growth, and managed the beginning of World War IV; including ensuring no successful terrorist attacks on US soil. That was done with his opposition doing everything they could to assist the enemies of the United States...can’t listen to suspected terrorists conversing with people in the US, or follow their money, etc. Bush 2 blew it in the end by giving up on free markets and signing off on TARP and some other socialist stuff. Overall, pretty good job though. Clinton, overall, a pretty good job, though you can bet if a Republican was bangin’ the female staff in the oval office; he would have been booted out of office PDQ.

Now we have a Marxist ideologue, racist, anti-Christian, pro-Islamist buffoon as president. A guy raised by Communists, hung out in college with racists, Marxists, Stalinists, advocating the overthrow of democracy; our a constitutional republic. That’d be us, Americans. Throw in his blatant religious lie about his quarter century in the anti-American, pro-communist, anti-Christian (they were all about liberation theology, not the teachings and acceptance of Jesus Christ as personal savior) racist church of Jeremiah Wright. Obama said after a quarter century, hey, who knew? Truly?

That’s the set up. Here’s the numbers.

Obama gets elected with the unemployment rate 6.8%. It’s now 8.6%. About 950,000 people are no longer looking for work; they are not longer factored in. Add them in, and the unemployment rate is about 11.5%. About 25% of African American men are unemployed. How's that hope and change thing working?

Gas was $1.88 in 2009. It’s about $3.50 now and climbing. 102% increase.

Average electricity bills for households have increased about $300 per year since he’s been in office.

The Census Bureau reports about 146.4 million people are living at or below the poverty line. That’s 4 million more that when he took office.

Credit card debt is going up, especially among seasoned citizens who are having to supplement their incomes.

The average age of a car on the road now is 10 years. Over the past 20 years the average age was about 6.5 years.

Our national budget is about $3.8 trillion, but heck, lets round it up to $4 trillion. Our revenues are only about $2.1 trillion, and revenues will be going down, spending will be going up. Another $Trillion is being added to the debt ceiling this session of Congress.

Much talk lately of this being the “food stamp president”. The Media Outlet for the Democrat Party, aka NBC, CBS, NY Times, LA Times, ABC, Time Magazine, etc. are all saying there were more people on food stamps under Bush. It’s amazing such blatant lies are fabricated and reported as fact, but we’ve come to expect it. Journalism died with the election of Barak Hussein Obama. Right now about one in seven Americans are on food stamps, about 14 million more people that when he took office. Pointing this out to the Jurassic Press and Democrats means you’re a racist. Problem is the majority of people on food stamps are white. I guess one could say Obama and the Dems are racist, forcing white people to go on food stamps.

Racial tension has skyrocketed. Energy costs have skyrocketed. The national debt has skyrocketed. Personal debt has skyrocketed. Everything that benefits the citizens of this country has plummeted.

Remember too, most of the 20th Century, the Democrat Party held power in Congress. They can blame Republicans all they want, but most legislation passed in the last 100 years was passed by them. The first two years of this administration, Democrats controlled both houses of Congress. They are the establishment. They write the rules. They are the ones responsible for this mess. The Republican Party is stupid and weak. Cowards. Blaming them for this mess is like blaming the little kid for getting beaten up by the bully.

The guy is a looser, for the rest of us. For him and the Democrats, he’s a winner. They’ve gotten what they wanted. It’s like Nikita Khrushchev said, “We can't expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism.” Obama and the Democrats are continuing this legacy.

There’s way more at stake with this election than jobs and debt.

The ignorant self important ideas of behaviorists, sociologists and government bureaucrats is doing huge damage to how we treat each other, diversity is driven out, and kids are being more abused, neglected and untaught.

A quick note about diversity. Secularists want everyone to accept everyone else based on race or socio-political philosophy that rejects ideas that have worked for thousands of years. The result of this social engineering is more division between the races, arguably the worst since the 1960’s. What’s lacking is diversity of ideas; everyone must think like a Secularist. You must think like them, or you’re stupid and intolerant. To do this you must reject natural law. Even more harmful than categorizing and defining people by race and socio-political philosophy, is the continued attempt to make this a unisex society, to be accomplished by turning boys into girls.

I first remember this idea in the 1960’s. It’s not enough to raise girls up to be independent women, boys had to be diminished, and men insulted. Women wanting to stay home and raise children were mocked. Boys had to act more like girls. Now we have an increasing number of stories of boys being given dolls instead of trucks to play with so they will be more like girls. Parents even dress their boys like girls so they can decide if they want to be a boy or girl, as if. Bi-sexuality and homosexuality is being taught in elementary school, not only as an alternative to heterosexuality, but preferable. Social engineering must begin early; we don't need no stinkin' three R’s. Time magazine had the cover story proclaiming that after much research, there’s a difference between males and females. Really, they needed a study to conclude that. All this stems from ignoring natural law, God’s law, His design.

Now we have little boys, doing little boy things, being given drugs to control them. No wrestling, running, fighting, pretend shooting with any object. Boys will still use anything to pretend a weapon if parents don’t provide them with a toy gun. We all grew up with toy swords, pistols and rifles, part of the learning process to being a boy, and maybe later a cop or soldier. No longer allowed. If you’re a boy and do such things, you’ll be force fed a drug and made to obey.

There was a time, in all societies, that there were initiation rites, that marked a specific point of changing from boy to man. Now we have boys in their twenties; men living with their parents; going to school on their parent’s dime until they’re in the mid-twenties. It’s now a cultural norm to diminish men. One result is we have men portrayed in nearly every commercial as weak, stupid and inept (is a pet peeve of mine).

Even churches, the religious community, have seemingly bought into this notion. At one time, when a majority of people went to church, boys and girls were mixed with all generations. Kids grew up knowing the values, culture and experience of not only their parents, but grandparents and great grandparents. There existed experiential evidence of the difference between boys and girls, men and women, and generations. Now churches are less attended thanks to a successful campaign of bigotry by Secularists; plus being a religious person is really difficult. What’s being taught now in the religious community is this lovey dovey let’s be all kindness, and just get along, be nice, have high self esteem without earning it mentality. Exactly what’s being done in the secular world. What often gets neglected is the other side of life; standing firm on one’s principles, fighting for those principles, courage, duty, manly honor. Growing up we sang “Onward Christian Soldiers” a lot. Not such a popular hymn now. Churches need to reject this trend. Both boy and girls need to be taught goodness, kindness and sometimes one needs to just kick some ass.

Churches need to return to scripture. “For everything there’s a season”; boys and girls need to be taught all aspects of life, not just what Secularists define as correct feminine behavior. Even Secularists know the Bible verse “When I was a child…” They’ve rejected it. We in the religious community need to be reminded of it, and act on it.

On Being An Introvert

Yesterday on a lark I took a personality test based on Briggs Myers personality assessment, and it was no surprise that “introvert” showed up as my strongest trait.

There’s stuff about the brain and chemicals released and various behaviors. There’s misunderstanding too about introverts.

From an article about introverts:

Myth #1 – Introverts don’t like to talk.

This is not true. Introverts just don’t talk unless they have something to say. They hate small talk. Get an introvert talking about something they are interested in, and they won’t shut up for days.

Myth #2 – Introverts are shy.

Shyness has nothing to do with being an Introvert. Introverts are not necessarily afraid of people. What they need is a reason to interact. They don’t interact for the sake of interacting. If you want to talk to an Introvert, just start talking. Don’t worry about being polite.

Myth #3 – Introverts are rude.

Introverts often don’t see a reason for beating around the bush with social pleasantries. They want everyone to just be real and honest. Unfortunately, this is not acceptable in most settings, so Introverts can feel a lot of pressure to fit in, which they find exhausting.

Myth #4 – Introverts don’t like people.

On the contrary, Introverts intensely value the few friends they have. They can count their close friends on one hand. If you are lucky enough for an introvert to consider you a friend, you probably have a loyal ally for life. Once you have earned their respect as being a person of substance, you’re in.

Myth #5 – Introverts don’t like to go out in public.

Nonsense. Introverts just don’t like to go out in public FOR AS LONG. They also like to avoid the complications that are involved in public activities. They take in data and experiences very quickly, and as a result, don’t need to be there for long to “get it.” They’re ready to go home, recharge, and process it all. In fact, recharging is absolutely crucial for Introverts.

Myth #6 – Introverts always want to be alone.

Introverts are perfectly comfortable with their own thoughts. They think a lot. They daydream. They like to have problems to work on, puzzles to solve. But they can also get incredibly lonely if they don’t have anyone to share their discoveries with. They crave an authentic and sincere connection with ONE PERSON at a time.

Myth #7 – Introverts are weird.

Introverts are often individualists. They don’t follow the crowd. They’d prefer to be valued for their novel ways of living. They think for themselves and because of that, they often challenge the norm. They don’t make most decisions based on what is popular or trendy.

Myth #8 – Introverts are aloof nerds.

Introverts are people who primarily look inward, paying close attention to their thoughts and emotions. It’s not that they are incapable of paying attention to what is going on around them, it’s just that their inner world is much more stimulating and rewarding to them.

Myth #9 – Introverts don’t know how to relax and have fun.

Introverts typically relax at home or in nature, not in busy public places. Introverts are not thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies. If there is too much talking and noise going on, they shut down. Their brains are too sensitive to the neurotransmitter called Dopamine. Introverts and Extroverts have different dominant neuro-pathways. Just look it up.

Myth #10 – Introverts can fix themselves and become Extroverts.

A world without Introverts would be a world with few scientists, musicians, artists, poets, filmmakers, doctors, mathematicians, writers, and philosophers. That being said, there are still plenty of techniques an Extrovert can learn in order to interact with Introverts. (Yes, I reversed these two terms on purpose to show you how biased our society is.) Introverts cannot “fix themselves” and deserve respect for their natural temperament and contributions to the human race. In fact, one study (Silverman, 1986) showed that the percentage of Introverts increases with IQ.

It turns out introverts comprise only about 25% of the population. Hoooray! I finally made it into a minority! I want special “rights”!

Jonathan Rauch in The Atlantic Monthly, “Caring for your Introvert” wrote:

Extroverts are energized by people, and wilt or fade when alone. They often seem bored by themselves, in both senses of the expression. Leave an extrovert alone for two minutes and he will reach for his cell phone. In contrast, after an hour or two of being socially “on,” we introverts need to turn off and recharge. My own formula is roughly two hours alone for every hour of socializing. This isn’t antisocial. It isn’t a sign of depression. It does not call for medication. For introverts, to be alone with our thoughts is as restorative as sleeping, as nourishing as eating. Our motto: “I’m okay, you’re okay—in small doses.”

This causes some stress having to be working for eight hours; I work in a call center with hundreds of people and I must interact with dozens of them. It can especially be daunting as a regular church participant. That’s an especially social and extroverted group. After meetings or choir practice folks stand around and chit chat; I’m looking for an escape route. No disrespect meant. The event is over, it’s time to go.

The worst of it is that extroverts have no idea of the torment they put us through. Sometimes, as we gasp for air amid the fog of their 98-percent-content-free talk, we wonder if extroverts even bother to listen to themselves. Still, we endure stoically, because the etiquette books—written, no doubt, by extroverts—regard declining to banter as rude and gaps in conversation as awkward. We can only dream that someday, when our condition is more widely understood, when perhaps an Introverts’ Rights movement has blossomed and borne fruit, it will not be impolite to say “I’m an introvert. You are a wonderful person and I like you. But now please shush.”

Saint Nicolas, Santa Claus, Atheists, and Christmas

This is the time of year when most of us celebrate God, Love, Family, Sharing and Giving. It’s also the time of year when Atheists and Bigots celebrate Intolerance and Hate. To do that, there have to be a lot of lies. The one that is gaining momentum is Santa Claus is a Christian religious icon. This was news to me. Don’t find him mentioned in Scripture, the Desert Fathers didn’t write about him, no mention of him at Pentecost, none of the early church leaders, none of the early apologists wrote about him. Martin Luther didn’t write, preach or teach about him.

The connection given is Saint Nicolas that became St Nick that became Santa Claus. This can’t even be a tenuous connection; there are not two more antithetical characters to be found. We have a jolly fat ad man and a reportedly mean yet pious tough guy that was really skinny.

Nicolas was born about 280 years after Jesus in the town of Patara. He got in fights. Reportedly at the Council at Nicaea, Arias, who didn’t think Jesus was Divine, ticked Nick off and Nick rose, walked across the room and popped him a good one, knocking Arias down. For his passionate display, he’s sent to the dungeon. He got really skinny there.

His being a really thin and hard man had much to do with the amount of times he was beaten and tortured during the “Great Persecution” of the early 300’s CE. When Constantine came to power, and Christianity was made acceptable, he fought against corruption and injustice. Didn’t make many friends for that either. He certainly didn’t have any children fitting into this story. Two events are reported to have happened relating to children. One was his giving money to a father with daughters, and the father used to money for dowry’s to keep them from having to make a living as prostitutes. The other story is about a tavern keeper that robbed a man, kidnapped his three children and hid them in a pickle barrel. Nick found them and returned them to their father.

This causes some cognitive dissonance; in the Middle Ages he became known as the brawling saint, but became the patron saint of children. An odd confluence.

Early Santa Claus

Santa Claus came about by merging a lot of pagan, Nordic and other mythologies to create a composite character, along with some novels later on.

Atheists and other intolerant people, if they want to continue being intolerant bigots, is just say they hate Christians and Christianity, and reject the ideals of Love, Charity, Sharing and Giving. They are Christian ideals after all; pagans, those that existed before Christianity didn’t have these ideals (with the exception of the Jews). That they exist at all goes primarily to Jesus the Christ and the Apostle Paul. Christians spread these ideals from Jews to Gentiles. Pagans then just hated Christians and Christianity so much there was a lot of killing, imprisonment, torture and slavery of them. Fortunately, our modern pagans live in a Judeo-Christian culture that forbids such things. (Such things do still go in Islamist countries though. Try badmouthing Allah and Ramadan to them.)

Atheists, bigots, intolerant ones; once a year people that celebrate something you despise, and you attack attack attack and lie. The rest of the year you have it your way. Give it a rest.

In my Marxist days, I believed the best, if not the only, way to get the poor and sick taken care of was to have the government in charge of it. To get that done money had to be taken from rich folks to pay for taking care of the sick, and the poor were poor through no fault of their own, it was rich people’s fault. I returned to the Church and Christianity, and noted that faith tradition puts on each of us to help and heal the sick and help the poor, and with God’s guidance, do well for ourselves, usually by being in service to others. It’s not government’s responsibility; it’s mine and yours, personally.

If we’re the moral and ethical creatures we claim to be, then we take action on that, not get the political class to shake down producers in the name of the less fortunate. How did it come to be so many in a democracy give up personal responsibility for self and service and pass this ethical imperative to the State? That shift results in racism and oppression, anti-Semitism, anti-Christian bigotry, and yet nearly half our population mistakenly believes it’s Liberty that leads to those horrible things.

At the beginning of the 20^th century there were a bunch of social scientists that came out of European economic thinking, mostly German, which stated economics should be, at its base, ethical. The leading thinker who was most influential in moving this notion forward was Richard Ely. His influence, (who knew?) served as the foundation of the New Deal, which in turn became the foundation for turning the US into a socialist state. All this was the “Progressive” Movement. Ely said, “To the demands of ethics, it is felt, should the entire economic life be made subservient.” He talked about this being the “ethical ideal” of social ethics. The “ethical ideal” he said “animates the new political economy”. It’s “the most perfect development of all human faculties in each individual, which can be attained.” From this he contended the government would foster, create and increase in people more love, knowledge, compassion and whatever else he and his fellow progressives decided would make better human beings.

This takes away individual freedom, which he pronounced a “negative freedom”, and needs to be replaced by “true liberty” which prompts us to become the most we can be by being forced to be in the service of others. Jesus taught us that service is the highest expression of our humanity, and those that willingly serve were “the greatest among you”. Ely and his fellow progressives did not, and progressives now (aka Democrats and other Leftists) do not believe people capable of that, so must be compelled by the State to “serve” others. A result of that is Progressives think taking care of others is best done by becoming a member of the political class, not going out and actually personally caring for others.

When mere people are left to their own devices, there’s a cycle of lots of help and service, down to less, up to more. Things run in cycles. Things get better, things get worse and so it continues; Natural Law. Progressives contend this isn’t a good thing, and by them controlling everyone, making them be of “service”, then that natural law can be stopped, and only then can things get “progressively” better in a linear manner.

People need, of course, to be trained on how to become servants of the State, often referred to as “the masses” (hate that term, but it makes Leftists, Dems and progressives easily identifiable) before they are granted the right to be contributors to the social good. One group especially needing extra guidance was and is our Black brothers and sisters. Some races needed extra guidance, and rejected the idea of the Founding Fathers that all men are created equal. Ely again: “For a long time in this country we were inclined to regard men as substantially equal, and to suppose that all could live under the same economic and political institutions. It now becomes plain that this is a theory which works disaster, and is, indeed, cruel to those who are in the lower stages, resulting in their exploitation and degradation.” Of course non-whites need not apply for personal Liberty. White people must educate them how to be free.

The colonial occupation or the imperialism of the late 18^th and early 20^th century American foreign policy was a result of this notion than lesser races needed help from those more enlightened. Albert Beveridge, a progressive leader of the early 20^th century, on the idea America should withdraw from the

: “Self-government is a method of liberty — the highest, simplest, best — but it is acquired only after centuries of study and struggle and experiment and instruction and all the elements of the progress of man. Self-government is no base and common thing to be bestowed on the merely audacious. It is the degree which crowns the graduate of liberty, not the name of liberty’s infant class, who have not yet mastered the alphabet of freedom. Savage blood, Oriental blood, Malay blood, Spanish example — are these the elements of self-government?”

Back in the US, Progressives were against the 15^th amendment which denied government, state, local or federal, to deny the right of citizens to vote based on “race, color, or previous condition of servitude”. Another Progressive leader at the time, John R Commons, on the notion that everyone should have a right to vote: “…after many thousand years of savagery and two centuries of slavery, was suddenly let loose into the liberty of citizenship and the electoral suffrage. The world never before had seen such a triumph of dogmatism and partisanship. It was dogmatism, because a theory of abstract equality and inalienable rights of man took the place of education and the slow evolution of moral character.”

These “progressives” actually advocated putting African Americans in labor camps and while their parents were “laboring” put their children in “progressive" schools to learn how to be free. As Blacks became more educated they could be released from the labor camps, after passing a “literacy test”. Does that sound familiar? That idea was used by Democrats in the South well into the 20^th century to oppress the Black vote. Here’s the justification for labor camps, written by another “progressive” leader of the time, Charlotte Perkins Gilman: “…Given: in the same country, Race A, progressed in social evolution, say, to Status 10; and Race B, progressed in social evolution, say, to Status 4. . . . Given: that Race B, in its present condition, does not develop fast enough to suit Race A. Question: How can Race A best and most quickly promote the development of Race B?”

Fredrick Douglas protested this, saying it was re-enslaving Blacks. Gilman’s response that it isn’t enslavement: “It is no dishonor but an honorable employment from the first, and the rapid means of advancement. . . . All should belong to it — all, that is, below the grade of efficiency which needs no care. For the children — this is the vital base of the matter — a system of education, the best we have, should guarantee the fullest development possible to each; from the carefully appointed nursery and kindergarten up to the trade school fitting the boy or girl for life; or, if special capacity be shown, for higher education.”

Setting Blacks in camps is segregation, promoted and practiced by Democrats well into the 20^th century; segregated schools, restaurants, bathrooms, drinking fountains. Literacy tests. The idea Blacks were inferior, that not all men are created equal, is a Leftist, Progressive, idea, promoted and practiced by the Democrat Party. This idea lasted even into the 1960’s when a majority of Democrats voted against the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Bills. More on the Racism and violence of the Democrat Party here.

All the programs that have bankrupted this country morally, culturally, religiously, and economically can be laid at the feet of “Progressives”, Leftists, Socialists, and the Democrat Party. W.W. Willoughby, another shining light of this philosophy of oppression of the State being true freedom, on the attributes of the State: “…that which first impresses one . . . is its possession of omnipotent rulership over all matters that arise between itself and the individuals of which it is composed.”

“Omnipotent Rulership”. The Left, Democrats…they decide, not you, how you behave, what decisions you make in your life, who you care about, how you care about them, how your serve your fellow man or not, how much of your income you get to keep.

Government's Attack on Christianity

I've pointed out many times government must drive religion, especially Jews and Christians out. The reason being Jesus told us to render to Caesar what is his, and God what is his; the State wants, and must have, everything rendered unto it. It will not tolerate dissent. The history of Nazi Germany, Soviet Union, Red China and Cuba are some examples that bear this out.

The campaign against Christianity in this country is getting stronger. What follows are some examples. The simplest start is the idea, even supported by some Christians, is religion is a private thing, and has no place in the public arena. Practicing Christians know being infused with the Holy Spirit means our Faith is the center of everything we say and do. Those Christians thinking that religion, especially Christianity, is exclusively a private thing, need to reevaluate where they are with their Faith.

The government’s driving Christianity out of the public sphere won’t reach the level of persecution seen in the countries mentioned above, but is just as insidious. Without the traditions and values of Christianity, we will end up reflecting what those states were or are.

The most blatant and egregious example of this is Health and Human Services decision to deny funding to Catholic programs that aid victims of human trafficking. The programs administered by the Catholic Church are the most effective. The reason for government not helping with funding, is the Church doesn't, and will not, refer abortions. Base on that criteria, Catholic health care programs and hospitals that serve non-Catholics are denied funding. Those institutions must provide “the full range of legally permissible gynecological and obstetric care” aka abortions. Given the government advocates for tax payer funded fetal genocide, religious health institutions must necessarily withdraw or be forced to violate all religious values, traditions and beliefs.

In my mind, if you’re not for something, you’re against it. You may say you have no dog in the chase, and that’s fine. We can’t have knowledge and opinions about everything, but when it comes to our attention we need to make a decision. Sitting on the sidelines cannot be an option when the attack on freedom of religion, speech, and the rest are under attack. The government here is for human trafficking if it's willing to cut out the most effective organization and give it to failed or failing organizations dealing with slavery.

The attack right now is mostly focused on the Catholic Church, but not limited to it. Obama’s EEOC recently argued to the Supreme Court the hiring practices of the Lutheran Church were discriminatory; that religious institutions must be held to the same hiring practices as secular businesses. That would mean the government would have a say in who a church selects as their pastor or ministerial team. Given this violation of the establishment clause, the government could force a Catholic priest that got married to be rehired if the priest sued to get his job back. Really. Fortunately the Supreme Court rejected this anti-religious, anti-Christian, anti-Constitutional filing.

Coming up on the Christmas season, we’re braced for the onslaught of anti-traditionalists, anti-Christian bigots, and atheists' annnual attack Christianity; all supported by government. They are so desperate in their hatred and intolerance they even try and take out Santa Claus and Christmas trees, claiming they're religious symbols. They are not. Christians need to stand up and say so.

Uniformed Christians are a problem too. We used to have a Christmas tree in our break room at work, and a “Christian” said it was a pagan religious symbol; he was offended, so we can no longer have a Christmas tree. Even though the knucklehead has left the company, the rule stays. Back when thug rapper Tupac Shakur was alive, a woman had pictures of him around her cube and a Bible on her desk. I experienced cognitive dissonance.

One last point. The Magna Carta, Mayflower Compact, Declaration of Independence, and the laws in the Constitution, are all founded in Scripture. I’ve posted several times Democrats (aka Leftists) stating they’re not held to the Constitution. The document they do hold themselves to is the Communist Manifesto, which rejects God and religion. What they advocate is an earthly utopia based on the rule of men, not the natural laws of God. There can be no earthly utopia, and peace can't reign without God's rule. Understanding God as natural law, that God is Love, and government rejects both, we must ensure more people understand that only by God’s rule and Grace can there be Liberty.

Pope Benedict- "Love in Truth", The Great Commission, Government and the Church

Recently Pope Benedict published an encyclical and there was much furor over a part of it suggesting there be a world governing body, a “Global Authority”, to balance economics and charity; for a more equitable distribution of wealth globally. It set every conservative’s and capitalist’s mind on edge. Governmental authority with the best of intentions always corrupts and oppresses and has the force of law, man’s, not God’s. I would rather we live according to God's law, natural law, based on a foundation of prayer. Governments have secularized themselves, denounced God, and theirs' is a more dangerous greed than that of capitalist as a result. They have the force of secular man made law we are forced to obey. God at least gives us free will; we ignore it at our own peril.

The Catholic Church, like the Episcopal Church has, in the West, found itself in a minority. The largest numbers of members are in the southern hemisphere, in “developing” countries, seeing the West as decadent, uncharitable, oppressive and greedy. Protestants, my tradition, has embraced that liberal notion while at the same time often not living up to the giving and sacrifice they espouse; let someone else, like governments, do it by confiscating money from producers. Not so far from what the encyclical was stating.

I watch to struggle in the Catholic and Episcopal churches between members in Asia and Africa and the Western church. Non-Western churches embrace the traditions about divorce and contraception (Catholic view), homosexuality, female priests and ministers and the rest. Western churches, both Catholic and Protestant are ignoring or jettisoning those traditions. The Episcopal church is on the verge of splitting in two. Demographics show nearly two thirds of Catholics are in developing countries, and I suspect the encyclical was for that audience. Mainstream Protestant denominations have been toying with these Marxist views for awhile, diluting the “Great Commission”. If Protestants would practice the Great Commission they wouldn’t need to be compromising and diluting their Christianity by letting the State do, with much failure, corruption and damage, what they themselves should be doing.

Call to Prayer II

Most of us really don’t know how to pray. We have some idea, and mostly our prayers turn into a personal wish list. Here's a teaching about how to pray that may give some structure to help us discipline ourselves and have our prayers emanate into the world and push back the darkness pressing in on us from a world that praises those things that deceive, ruin, damage us.

This teaching I recently received and it comes from Pastor Dick Eastman, the International President of “Every Home for Christ”.

It’s absolutely necessary to set a specific time for daily devotional prayer. Morning is usually best. Our minds are uncluttered, we can focus, and we get ourselves aligned with God for the rest of the day. It’s the setting of the time that’s important, but it’s not necessary to set a time limit except for it to fit into your schedule. You may have to rearrange your schedule, maybe not do something that’s part of your routine. Not watch that TV program, or stay up and watch the eleven o’clock news, or get up a little earlier to make room for what's truly important.

From Pastor Eastman’s book, Look What God Is Doing! if you can get up to an hour, understandably tough if this is a new evolution in your life, is something to work toward. He breaks personal prayer hour into twelve five minute segments.

~Petition, share personal needs

When praying intercession pray for your neighborhood; even take a walk through it, praying for those in each house you pass. Create a personal prayer list for family and friends that need intercession.

He gives us several spheres of influence.

~Monday, Pray for those in the Arts and Entertainment, including Sports. Ask God to use Christians here to touch lives.

~Tuesday, Pray for those in business.

~Wednesday, Pray for those in education, especially teachers.

~Thursday, Pray for families, especially those families facing breakup.

~Friday, Pray for those in Government, local to national, and international. Pick a country each day. Get a prayer map of the world to do this.

~Saturday, pray for those in the Media to become tools for Jesus Christ to change our culture from the baseness it exalts now to reflecting His honor and glory.

~Sunday, pray for the anointing of all churches and ministries. Pray for other religions to see the truth of the Gospel.

Pastor Eastman has three focuses, the first a “Prayer Focus” for our neighborhood and for the nations. For your neighborhood, start a prayer watch over them, walk the neighborhood praying. Declare God’s praises over your neighborhood. Whenever you can, lead your neighbors to Jesus. For the nations open doors to spread the Gospel, open minds to hear the Gospel, open hearts to embrace the Gospel, and open the Heavens to reveal the Gospel.

The second focus he calls the “Care Focus” to show Christ’s Love to a hurting world. For our neighbors bless them, know them (very tough in this time of mistrust), help whenever you can, and tell them the Good News. For Nations, remember to be like Jesus and be compassionate, remember to care for the suffering, and remember Him by sharing the “Bread of Life” (he is the bread).

The last is a “Share Focus” to share Christ’s Love through personal and relations evangelism, where we work, play and live.

This is a call to prayer in a darkening world consenting to live in the shadow of the Adversary. We need to penetrate that every day, for everybody, everywhere, and in every home.

A Call to Prayer

The dark times we have entered aren't only socio-economic, it’s mostly spiritual. These dark times are a result of forces pushing back the holy power of God. Pedophilia being more acceptable, massive corruption in politics and business, plummeting wealth internationally, a culture sexualizing children, racial tensions and all the rest that disturb us, are a call to prayer for the Church, the Body of Christ. Prayer will penetrate the Darkness, and from there we can begin breaking it down and pushing it back.

Most of the time we pray, it’s more like a personal wish list, prayers of personal petition. In the prayer Jesus taught us, he has us saying, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done”, calling on us to bridge His kingdom to our life here. We’ve allowed ourselves to lose that relationship, our lives being ruled more by men than by God. That leads to deception and ruin; we see the results daily, experiencing the encroaching Darkness. We let ourselves become spiritually blind. Instead of pushing back the Darkness, we close more in on ourselves as the Church, as Christians.

While we do good works, there must be more prayer, both corporate and personal. When we look at the early Church, following Pentecost, prayer life was number one. The power of His Kingdom into our realm is brought by prayer. It began with Jesus, and his constant praying; he set the example. He would withdraw and pray often. He taught us how to pray. The Apostle Paul admonished us to pray unceasingly. Peter kneeled and prayed until his knees bled. Reading in Acts, the story of the early Church, people prayed and there were healings and miracles, new ministries, there were visions of God, people that lost direction found direction, and in the face of unbelievable persecution, the growth of the Church exploded. Acts 1:14 tells us these tangible results were the result of prayer, “all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication”.

This is a call to prayer, for all of us. It takes time and discipline. We each need to find a time to connect with the Holy Kingdom, and do it daily. Prayer is a spiritual discipline, and much neglected, and often limited to our own needs. The recommended time is morning; all is quiet and our mind uncluttered unlike at the end of our day. When we do this, we present ourselves to Him with praise, we open our hearts to Him, we offer our day to Him, and we expand our prayers, reaching out from ourselves, to family, to our Church family, to community, our nation, and then to other nations.

When we open our hearts to Him, He reviews what’s there, and will cleanse us of those things that deceive and keeps us from living totally in tune with His will. Psalms 139 tells us “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting”. When presenting our day to Him, Psalms 5 tells us, “Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on your altar and watch for fire to descend.” When we do this we’re asking for His power and anointing to come upon us; this will push back, penetrate the darkness that surrounds us daily. When we reach out, we expand our prayer beyond our immediate circle. We can specifically name those in need of prayer within our immediate circle, and we need to do the same outside the circle. Pick a country everyday and pray for their leaders and people to be delivered from the encroaching Darkness.

There is no predestined fate. Many think God has set in motion events, so just let it be, things will just be taken care of. God has called us to intercede, to bring His Kingdom into our realm. It's on us. God will only act where He is invited; He won’t do things just on His own. It’s more important now than ever, with the force of the Enemy blanketing us in more Darkness that we make the time for daily devotional prayer.

Additionally, as the Body of Christ, the Church must pray, corporate prayer, as if each of our churches is the only church praying. Kingdom power must be that amplified. The order of things has been violated, and we must pray as if our lives depended on it, and it does, to put things right and open His kingdom here on earth.

Tomorrow, November 1st, the Roman Catholic Church celebrates the feast of All Saints, that is, the day in which Catholics commemorate all those who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven—the festival, however, was retained after the Reformation in the calendar of many other Christian confessions for its deep theological and spiritual meaning. This prompts me to quote a passage from St. Augustine The City of God (Book XXII, Chapter 24) which I have always found inspirational, and this, of course, because of its intrinsic worth, but also because of its many references to nature and its beauty. Something which, in my opinion, is suitable for this time of the year, too, in which we experience the beauty of fall foliage…

How can I tell of the rest of creation, with all its beauty and utility, which the divine goodness has given to man to please his eye and serve his purposes, condemned though he is, and hurled into these labors and miseries? Shall I speak of the manifold and various loveliness of sky, and earth, and sea; of the plentiful supply and wonderful qualities of the light; of sun, moon, and stars; of the shade of trees; of the colors and perfume of flowers; of the multitude of birds, all differing in plumage and in song; of the variety of animals, of which the smallest in size are often the most wonderful—the works of ants and bees astonishing us more than the huge bodies of whales? Shall I speak of the sea, which itself is so grand a spectacle, when it arrays itself as it were in vestures of various colors, now running through every shade of green, and again becoming purple or blue? Is it not delightful to look at it in storm, and experience the soothing complacency which it inspires, by suggesting that we ourselves are not tossed and shipwrecked? Michelle Obama recently stated if a Republican wins the White House the first amendment will be shredded and shelved; there would no longer be freedom of religion. This is rich considering more Democrats believe in UFO’s than God, and is the Party that promotes anti-Christian bigotry, secularism, anti-traditionalism, and anti-Semitism. She included that free speech will end; also rich considering they are the propagators of political correctness; which is being only able to say what they approve of.

Jesus said lots of people are going to despise anyone who believed and practiced what he taught. Indeed. "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake." Christians are being jailed and killed in the tens of thousands worldwide. I'm grateful that's not happening here, yet. If our government (and Europe's) keeps bending to Sharia Law, all bets are off. Here is some religion news from the past week.

Atheists are ramping up for their anti-Christian Hate Festival, also known as Christmas by many. Backyard Skeptics, an atheist group in Orange County, put up a billboard with a quote from Thomas Jefferson, “I do not find in Christianity one redeeming feature. It is founded on fables and mythology.” Problem was Jefferson never wrote it, or was quoted saying it. The billboard was taken down. Atheists spend an inordinate amount of time attacking Christians, which is counterintuitive since God doesn’t exist; why bother? It’s odd so much time is spent attacking people that believe in something that doesn’t exist. This same group showed its tolerance and courage about a month ago standing on a pier in Huntington Beach tearing up a Bible. (Last week while the Pope was having Mass, a knucklehead got on a ledge and burned a Bible. They’re everywhere.) Courage is mentioned here because they don’t attack Muslims, also a monotheistic religion. There will be more of the same expressions of hate and intolerance in the next couple months as we get into our celebration of Baby Jesus’ birth. Atheists have nothing positive and uplifting to offer, no love, compassion, charity or care, so they preach a message of hate and intolerance.

Going overseas a bit, there’s a play in Paris, part of which includes the throwing of feces at Jesus Christ’s face. Understandably Christians aren’t happy with this and gathered in protest. The Christians are being branded as “fundamentalists” (the label bigots toss at anyone professing Christianity, excluding false Christians that claim the Faith but put Marxism first). The mayor of Paris is having the city file a lawsuit against the protesters. It’s apparently okay for everyone else to protest against stuff that angers them, just not Christians. I wonder if the coward that wrote the play, “Sur le Concept du Visage du fils de Dieu” (”On the Concept of the Son of God’s Face”), by Italian Romeo Castellucci, would write a play with feces being thrown at the face of Mohammed. The mayor of Paris, by the way, let Muslims rampage through the streets of Paris, striking fear into citizens and destroying $millions of property. He allows them to block traffic and disrupt business when Muslims do their prayer ritual, as does the anti-Christian London mayor and government.

The Wall Street Occupy protesters in London camped out on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral. The cathedral closed, one would guess to protect it. The Western Anglican Church has rejected Christianity and embraced Marxism and the rest of the Left’s agenda. The leadership of the Church saw the closing as a threat, being damaging to Christianity, so had it reopened. Actually the threat was damage to the cathedral. Protecting historical property, or any property for that matter, is a wise thing to do; especially if people camped on your steps are anti-Christian and anti-property. Of course London government, like Paris’ government, and the most of the leadership of the Episcopal Church, are more interested in embracing and practicing Leftist ideology that embracing Jesus Christ. The Episcopal Church by the way, is in dire straights, there being a huge split between those that want to adhere to the Word of God and Christian beliefs and those that want to put that second to Leftist secular political and socio-cultural ideology.

The Catholic Church is also playing with Leftist secular political, socio-cultural ideology. The Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace published a document, ”Towards Reforming the International Financial and Monetary Systems in the Context of a Global Public Authority,” advocating for the international redistribution of wealth and an international global authority to control the flow of money, overriding national economic sovereignty. Supposedly this would create a moral and ethical guide to economics. Really and truly? Good grief. International socialism is the answer? Not God? There’s no way international leaders that hate Christianity would be guided by ethics and moral laid out in Judeo-Christian Scripture. Their scripture is the Communist Manifesto.

Coptic Christians in Egypt are fleeing and being murdered. No word from the Islamist supporting President of the United States.

Back to atheists’ antics in this country, there was a brush up in the town of Whiteville, TN. There was a cross on the top of a water tower that upset them. Don’t understand why; it represents something that doesn’t exist. The Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) had brought suit, and the town couldn’t afford the legal battle. The mayor was going to move the cross to another location, but instead had one of the arms cut off so it was no longer a cross. Hoot! The citizens liked this so much, hundreds of crosses have popped up all over town on private property and now they’re everywhere. The intolerant bigots of the FFRF have withdrawn their lawsuit. Freedom from religion; who's making them worship, pray, convert, believe? Seems they're already free from religion.

Bigotry and hated against Christians is on the rise while Islamists are given a pass. Governments support anti-Semitism and anti-Christianity. Reason being governments need to take religion, especially Christianity, out of the equation because we are to render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and God what is His. Governments want everything rendered unto them and only them. I’m saddened the Episcopal Church, the Catholic Church and so many of the Protestant Denominations (including the national leadership of my own First Christian Church [Disciples of Christ]) embrace Marxism, Liberation Theology, and the acceptance of cultural and social mores antithetical to Jesus and the Apostle Paul’s teachings.

If you are against Christianity, yet care about children, charity, humanity, love, the old, the homeless, and the sick, why?

Secularists, in whatever form, anti-traditionalists, atheists, communists, statists, pagans, all claim to be charitable, care about the sick, the disabled, the mentally ill and the rest, at the same time saying hateful things about Christians. I’ve been reading quite a bit lately about the ancient world, especially about the ancient Mediterranean; their beliefs and behaviors.

In the pagan world infanticide, murder, slavery, letting the sick, poor, old people and children just die because of they were of no value or use, was the way of philosophy and life. Women had fewer rights than male slaves.

We in the West have the opposite view and practices. It all began because of what Jesus taught. Jesus Christ said to let the children come to Him, “Jesus took children in his arms and blessed them. ‘Let the children come to me; do not hinder them.’ . . . And He took them in His arms and blessed them, laying His hands on them.” Even the Disciples were against this. Children at that time were seen as a burden, another mouth to feed. Girl babies were often left to die or outright killed right after birth, and any baby not seen as fully healthy was killed. Many were abandoned. As a result, over the centuries, abandoned children were taken care of by Christians. Christians created orphanages or cared for them in their own homes (precursor of the foster care system) rather than buy into the notion that children were of no value. Those against Christianity will point out all the failings of orphanages and foster care. I can only suppose then they approve of leaving abandoned children to die.

Leaving children to die, not seeing the worth and sanctity of human life extended to all people. Life had no value. Murder was acceptable. Infanticide was acceptable. Abortion (as it is now) was acceptable; thousands were slaughtered in the arenas of the Roman Empire, and human sacrifice was acceptable all over the world. Jesus taught all life was sacred. This was antithetical to the pagan beliefs of the time. Secularists and atheists claim to care for people. This is a Christian belief. Secularists and atheists being true to their rejection of Christianity, to be true to their beliefs, would advocate for murder, infanticide and human sacrifice.

Before Christianity marriage was for political and child bearing reasons. Men wanted an heir, and women’s purpose was to have babies. They were baby factories with no rights. Unmarried women were often, if not usually, prostitutes. Temples were glorified brothels filled with prostitutes. Jesus had many women followers, cared and ministered to them against the norms of His society. Jesus had women spread the news of His Resurrection. The early church met primarily in homes, usually run by women. In that society, such things were just not allowed. Women weren’t even allowed to speak in public, but in Christian services they were. Are atheists and secularists for the abuse of women, forcing them to be silent, forcing them into prostitution?

Marriage was not between equals in pagan society as it is now. Based on Jesus’ teachings, the Apostle Paul wrote extensively about the equality of women in marriage, that men should love and listen to their women, should share equally in the marriage. Divorce then was a one way street. The man could just throw his wife out on the street with no possessions or money; that was divorce. A husband could commit adultery as long as it wasn’t with another man’s wife. Not out of any concern for the wife, but because the wife was property, and adultery was using (stealing) another man’s property. Plus there were plenty of prostitutes around, so it was just insulting to use another’s wife.

Slavery was the social norm of the day. It was until the 19^th century. It was Christians, using the teachings of Apostle Paul and Jesus that put into practice the notion that we are all created in God’s image, so all equal before Him, and so to each other. In pagan times one was free man or slave (or woman). It was Christians that fought to free slaves all over the world. Do atheists and secularists endorse slavery, or embrace the Christian belief and practice that men are equal and slavery is evil.

There was no such thing as charity and compassion. There was no caring for the sick, poor, or homeless. If one were in such a condition, it was punishment from the gods. Based on Jesus’ teaching, Apostle Paul said, “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others”. At that time looking after others was thought of as useless and a waste. The thinking of the time was that the poor and sick should be left to die if they can’t work. They weren’t worthy of help. Jesus showed compassion for the sick and poor. If atheists and secularists so reject Christianity, then they reject the notion of caring for the sick and poor, like those before Christianity did.

There were not charitable organizations before Christianity introduced them. There wasn’t any charity at all. Jesus said, “Whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.” An absolute contradiction to the mores of the time. Rejecting the teachings of Christianity, would secularists and atheists reject charities for the sick or the homeless, the poor?

Part of caring for the sick was the creation of hospitals, that didn’t exist in pagan times. Atheists and secularists accept this as just a part of modern society. Schools, the idea that everyone, even women, should be taught, regardless of class or ethnicity, was a Christian development and practice. Before Jesus Christ, education was only for the sons of free men. There was of course push back against this, even among Christians, but the idea became the reality we have today.

Art, music, architecture, literature all benefitted and improved as a result of Christianity. That’s a whole other posting. My point here is atheists and secularists all embrace, practice and benefit from the beliefs and sacrifices of Christians. Maybe they should reconsider their wholesale attack on Christianity since it is what gives them their own sense of humanity, care, compassion and love. Such things did not exist before Jesus Christ. Don’t dis them that brung ya to the dance.

I’m fed up with the What Would Jesus Do question, or who would Jesus support politically. Christ’s message was not political. We don’t know what Jesus would do; it’s all projection of modern intellect on a simple message. Applying Christ to politics is especially grievous when applied by anti-Christian bigots, atheists, and Marxists.

The Washington Post has a column “On Faith”, which isn’t often on Faith, but pokes holes Christian thought, and demeans Christians. Occasionally they get something right, but not often. Lisa Miller asks the question "Jesus at Occupy Wall Street: 'I feel like I've been here before." As she walks through the park where the “Occupy” protesters have “camped out”, she describes tents, scruffy people, a communal kitchen and the generally dirty, nasty condition these people have chosen to live in; voluntary squalor.

Miller suggests Jesus would side with these people against successful producers.

“Jesus gave preferential treatment to society’s outcasts. Lepers, tax collectors, prostitutes — all would attain heaven before the ordained elites. Jesus believed that God was about to right the world’s wrongs with a great upheaval — soon — and at that time, a radical reversal of the social order would occur. As he says in the gospels, the meek will inherit the earth.”

Equating suffering people that are sick, poor, dying, suffering from any maladies, to mostly middle class protesters with high end electronics and clothes is not even a comprehensible comparison. As for the “meek” part, these people are aggressive and want to overthrow the economic system and government, violently if they can. Miller doesn’t understand what Jesus was talking about when he spoke of the meek. The Hebrew word for “meek” means “to be molded”. Jesus was saying this referring back to the psalmist who wrote in the 37^th Psalm, “Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness, delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him.” Being meek means committing and submitting to God and letting Him mold you. Let God guide your purpose in life. Psalms 24 tells us “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof”. When you are full of God, and submitted to Him, then you are meek, and then you inherit the earth; God's earth.

This has nothing to do with the materialistic Marxist view Miller and the protesters have, and what they are demanding. They are demanding the material things the producers have gotten as a result of risk and hard work. Watching and listening to them and their supporters, there is no call for salvation or submitting to God’s will; only the demand for the “things” of this world those others have.

These people reject God, don’t recognized Christ as Savior, attack and demean Christians regularly. Using Him as a political prop is vile and revolting, dishonest and hypocritical. Jesus said render under Caesar what is Caesar’s, and God what is God’s. These people want God out of the equation and have all rendered to Caesar; then have Caesar to provide for them. They don’t want to submit to God, be meek to His will, they want others to be meek and submit to them.

The Obama Administration is violating the Constitution (which it has done on several occasions) by not acknowledging the Establishment Clause, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”

The Administration is using Health and Human Services (HHS) to shut down Catholic institutions. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act., aka Obamacare, requires all health plans pay for contraceptives, sterilizations and information on how to use both. Catholics of course don’t use contraceptives and sterilization, and their institutions certainly don’t want to be advocates for them.

The Administration claims the Catholic Church can opt out. The catch to that is the organization can do so only when it serves its own group pretty much exclusively. Catholic services such as foster care, adoption, feeding the poor and now health care, serve much more than that, any they don’t only hire Catholics to provide these services. Since that’s the situation, the Catholic Church is being forced to make a decision to obey the government or suspend these services. If the Catholic Church were to restrict itself to only serving and employing Catholics, one can only imagine the hue and cry of bigotry and exclusion.

This intervening of the government into religious practices extends into marriage. Current pushes by government to make homosexual marriage acceptable, against the wishes of a majority of Americans, forces the hand of not just the Catholic Church but Protestant ones too. This Administration no longer supports the “Defense of Marriage Act”, that marriage is between a man and a woman. Archbishop Timothy Dolan wrote a letter to the President expressing his concern the Administration no longer supports marriage being between a man and a woman. He states:

“…This past spring the Justice Department announced that it would no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in court, a decision strongly opposed by the Catholic Bishops of the United States and many others. Now the Justice Department has shifted from not defending DOMA—which is problem enough, given the duty of the executive branch to enforce even laws it disfavors—to actively attacking DOMA’s constitutionality.
“…That is why it is particularly upsetting, Mr. President, when your Administration, through the various court documents, pronouncements and policies identified in the attached analysis, attributes to those who support DOMA a motivation rooted in prejudice and bias. It is especially wrong and unfair to equate opposition to redefining marriage with either intentional or willfully ignorant racial discrimination, as your Administration insists on doing.

By engaging in these acts of government regulations of what the Church can and cannot do, in violation of the Constitution, the Obama Administration can effectively shut them down or force them to comply in contradiction to the teachings, traditions, values and beliefs of the Catholic Church specifically and Christians generally. The government mandate is jettison your Faith and obey the government, or they shut you down. The bigotry against Christianity is so deep in government that they would rather see the poor not served, those hurting not helped, than them being disobeyed. The essence of this is the government must shut down Christianity to ensure they replace God with themselves to be obeyed and worshipped. Just look and them good ol’ Dem Southern Boys. 40% of the House Democrats voted against the Civil Rights Act, and 80% of Republicans voted for it. The Dems also filibustered a civil rights act in 1957 that was passed by Republicans and Republican President Eisenhower signed it.

The most powerful political leaders opposed to school integration were Orval Faubus, Democrat Governor of Arkansas, George Wallace, Democrat Governor of Alabama and Lester Maddox, Democrat Governor of Georgia. Faubus is the Democrat racist that used police to block a school to keep Black kids out. It was Republican President Eisenhower that forced Faubus’ hand and got the schools integrated.

Democrat Racist Hugo Black was appointed to the Supreme Court. His rise to judicial power was the result of defending Klansmen. Klansmen by the way beat up Republicans for not going along with their Racist terrorist ways. Dems understand terrorism from the inside, since the Klan was a Democrat terrorist group.

There was Senator Robert Byrd, D-WV, a Klan official. There was Senator Ernest Hollings, D-SC who was instrumental in the fight against integration.

It was the Republican Party that fought for and won the fight to free the slaves. In the 1920’s the Republican’s regularly had anti-lynching legislation opposed by Democrats.

Rhetorical question. How come when white Dems attack Black conservatives like Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, Shelby Steele, or Ward Connerly they aren’t being attacked as racist?

On to violence, which Dems and the Jurassic Press keep reporting is the domain of Republicans, Conservatives, and TEA Party supporters.

The riots of the 1960’s, the Democratic Convention, the race riots. Think any of them were Republican or Conservatives?

Who is that takes to the streets and destroys $millions worth of property? Conservatives or Leftists? Former Sec of Defense Rumsfeld was doing a book signing in Boston a few days ago and was attacked. Group of people were calling him a war criminal, chanting, “Hey Rumsfeld you can’t hide. We charge you with genocide.” Can you guess if they were Conservatives or Leftists? Are you aware of any Conservatives attacking a Leftist at a book signing?

Groups of people regularly go to the homes of judges and politicians, protesting a decision, or to a politician that voted on something they didn’t like. Are these people Conservatives or Leftists? Aware of any Conservative groups going to the homes of Leftist judges or politicians and protesting?

There’s been a bunch of people on Wall Street this past week, recently visited by the fat communist filmmaker Michael Moore, that has made $millions being a capitalist. There have been some arrests; fighting with police ‘n stuff while claiming to be a peaceful protest. Just to make a point about the Jurassic Press here, a reporter for the Leftist NY Times and Politico (reportedly a freelance “journalist”), Natasha Lennard, got arrested too. She was protesting with this group against Wall Street and Capitalism while reporting on it. Wonder if there were Conservatives there? Communist and Racist and alleged professor of something, Cornell West, egged these protesters on calling for revolution. Not the kind brought about by voting either. Think any of those people are Conservatives or Republicans?

The occupation of the Wisconsin Capital building this past summer, which caused about $7 million in damages, was done by government employees because they were asked to pay a little more (still less than those of us in the private sector) for their own Healthcare and Retirement programs. Want to guess if the occupiers were Leftists or Conservatives?

Then in Seattle, 500 longshoremen stormed the docks beating up people and even taking hostages. An additional 1,000 longshoremen shut down other docks. The kerfuffle wasn’t because of an issue with management, but because another union was chosen to do the work on a new project. Think any of these guys are Republicans or Conservatives?

How about the violent rhetoric of our uber partisan president?

He’s talking about people that don’t want him raising taxes and increasing the debt. He's talking about people that won’t vote for him, that don’t support him. Ever hear a Republican president talk this way? Could you imagine that above the fold howling condemnation? This guy recently said of those opposing his demand for tax hikes, then “We’re gonna have problems”. Sounds like a threat to me. Could you imagine the howling of the Jurassic Press if a Republic president said he would punish those that oppose him?

I’ve chronicled, most especially since the Arizona shooting by an apolitical crazy man, all the violence of the Left, supported by the Democrat Party. Remember they immediately came out saying it was a result of violent Conservative, Republican and TEA Party rhetoric. It’ll get worse too. Dems are facing a political loss next year that will dwarf what happened this past November. There will be more of the kind of thing like Racist and Communist Maxine Waters telling TEA Party members and supporters to go to hell. There’ll be more of union thugs like Hoffa that thundered, “Let’s take these sons a bitches out”, referring to TEA Party members and supporters, Conservatives and Republicans. Rhetorical content has much to do with the speaker; so when a union thug says….

It needs to be graphic with lots of pictures and Democrats saying racist and anti-Semitic things. They need to run ads over and over of the Democrat’s voting against Civil Rights and Integration. Are you poor, or don’t have prescription drug insurance? If you have asthma and buy your life saving inhaler over the counter, your days are numbered. In 2008 the FDA decided since some inhalers produced chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) they should be outlawed. See, the ozone layer is more important than people. We’re talking about 2 million or more people that rely on over the counter inhalers.

The “environmentally safe” hydrofluoroalkane inhalers cost nearly double of the ozone destroying over the counter inhalers. The reason is the “environmentally safe” inhalers have active patents that are being paid for; over the counter are post patent. Doesn’t have to happen, the totalitarian FDC could wait until the patents run out in 2015. Then again, if you get rid of over the counter inhalers, and let a couple million people die, that’d be great for the ozone layer and the environment.
